I first read about 'My Gal Sal' in the LIFE Magazine article of 1964. It sat on the ice for 53 years before it was salvaged for restoration. That restoration is continuing but it looks like the memorial planned in Blue Ash, Ohio has been canceled - apparently for political reasons.
