The Rocky Hat?

Bringing this back to the main topic...

...He doesn't wear the hat again until Rocky V, and by then it's even more worn and torn around the edges of the crown. Otherwise it looks newer, so I'm fairly certain it's not the same hat...
Apparently I was wrong about it not being the same hat. According to this behind-the-scenes interview with crack entertainment reporter Leeza Gibbons on the set of Rocky V...

...at approximately the 1:20 mark she comments on Rocky's "trademark" hat. Stallone says it's one of two left from the original Rocky, and that the company that made them went out of business. But he also says they can't be duplicated, which we all know isn't true, so...

I think he wears it in Creed as well. (An ok film, but it's basically Rocky I with Rocky in the trainer role and Apoolo Creed's son as the Rocky character, right down to the ending.)

Until new information proves me wrong again I'm convinced the hats he wore in Creed and Creed II were not the exact same hats because a) they look newer, and b) they look like they're made from a different material. Besides, I think his financial position these days would allow him to have those original hats duplicated. Or maybe he just went to Baron Hats and said, "Give me ten of these." ;)

I liked Creed (haven't yet seen Creed II), but you're right about it being a loose remake of the first Rocky movie.

Just in case anyone might be interested, it appears Mr. Stallone has finally had the "Rocky" hat duplicated and mass produced for the fans. Looks pretty close to the hats Stallone wore in the movies, but...well, I don't want my opinion to influence anyone one way or another.

The Baron hat it’s a nice hat better than the Slystalloneshop version I have both. What can I tell you I’m a big fan.
I like Baron Hats' version, but I just can't justify paying that much for a hat. I would like to have been able to get one from the "Sly Stallone Shop", but they sold out of my size before I could scrape the cash together and it doesn't look like they're making any more. :( A day late and a dollar short; story of my life.

stingy brim hats were very popular in the 60s, not hard to find a very good quality stingy brim at a very reasonable price now. Actually they aren't popular at all now, hell you can't hardly give one away.

I definitely understand it’s pretty expensive the hat. I got them for Christmas from my wife she knows I’m obsessed with the Rocky hat I’m even trying to find the vintage one but not luck yet!

I would say that's a wool hat from the '70's. They are as common as dandelions at flea markets, and can be found all day on eBay for $5 or less.

Welcome to The Fedora Lounge!

sadly it’s pretty hard to find the original vintage hat and I’ve seen some vintage hats they are very close to the original but no dark colors everything it’s colorful tweed pattern.

Hey all. New member here. Just wanted to see if anyone can help me identify the original fedora/trilby Stallone wore in the original Rocky movie and Rocky 2 and Rocky 5. I'm thinking its a vintage 60's or 70's Cavanagh brand hat. I've added the only pictures of the inside of the hat that I could see. The images are from Rocky 2 when e visits Adrian at the hospital for the first time. Can anyone identify the brand by the crest/shield in the hat? Any help is much appreciated.

The hat maker is Kevin McAndrew
I’m looking for the original hat but no luck yet !

You are correct..... the hat from Creed part 1 isn’t the same from Creed 2. I have photos and it wasn’t made by Baron hats that’s for sure!

It looks like it was removed from You Tube. It wasn't much more than a "fluff piece" with Leeza Gibbons interviewing Sylvester Stallone on one of the outdoor sets they used while filming Rocky V. He's in wardrobe, including the hat, and he talks about it briefly. If I remember correctly, that was where I heard him say where he got it and incorrectly stated that it couldn't be duplicated.

Edit: By the way, in the photos you posted in post #54, in the first photo the Baron Hats hat is on the left and the Stallone Shop hat is on the right, then they're switched in the second photo. Am I right?
