Well looks like it’s time for another resistol image... this one I take the utmost
Pride in, not just because it’s my actual cavalry hat (Ft. Hood 88-92) but I the knots I put in the acorns... those knots aren’t part of the moi for this hat but it’s a given for anyone involved in a combat capacity to be able To do this or not in a combat environment . (Moi changed 2016 to include all notnjust combat involved)

This is not a confederate hat this is a 40 year old Cav Hat.
I earned the right to wear as do all Cav troopers. I wear this hat for not just me, but all those troopers who went before me. Thank you to all of them for making 1st Cav what it is and for those current for maintaining that honor WHOOOAH.
Now here what you see set up by military “memorandum of instruction” is my rank as a specialist e-4, of coarse my division with the number 1, the yellow acorns indicating enlisted and on the back is my DUI as in “designated unit insignia” 3rd Bn 32nd Ar.
You know that this is also a hat you don’t need to remove when passing of the colors. I didn’t know that, I though it was just military caps and berets.
I unfortunately Did not have the cav Stetson at the time and had my diamond horseshoe resistol and had to made a modification to be able to install and use the stampede strap or cav strap.
If I were in my unit I’d have to unknot the cords to wear it in accordance to instruction
The Cav Hat is not an issued item and is not covered in any of the uniform regulations but it is worn by the Troopers of the 1st Cavalry Division and many other cavalry units for ceremonies and special cavalry events. The type and number of items worn on the “Cav Hat” vary greatly and demonstrate the individuality and style of the wearer. The 1st Cavalry Division has published a Memorandum of Instruction (MOI) that covers the wearing of the “Cav Hat” and spurs for those currently serving with the First Team but also for Veterans the MOI is only a guideline of what right looks like.
For those interested the 4” brim was authorized as well as the 3” until they phased out the 4” in 2007.. it’s now 3”
So it’s not just the hat I wAs interested in showing butntge history
It is a resistol
