The perfect lip gloss

Hello,

I'm looking for the perfect lipgloss from a good and well-known brand. I didn't think lip gloss could be a part of vintage make-up but I recently found out that Max Factor started selling it in 1932 :)
I don't feel comfortable wearing red lipstick at work but a nice gloss feels perfect.
I want it to give a large amount of color for my lips yet being transparent.
Any ideas?
I would really appreciate some help from the Fedora ladies, thank you!

Try the Body Shop's lip and cheek stain (they only have one shade, and it's a sheer red that gets darker as you layer it) with a clear gloss.

I also have this really great red gloss that looks sparkly in the bottle, but really just adds a subtle sheen and a little bit of color. I got it at Bath and Body Works, but I forget what it's called...it's raspberry-scented.

Another very vintage-friendly product is Rosebud Salve. The container is darling, and it wears well. It is a petroleum product, though, so if you're avoiding that, you won't want to use that one. A good petroleum-free gloss in cute packaging is Burt's Bees glosses in the tiny glass jars. I sometimes use chai-rose Badger Balm as a lip balm/gloss.

I really love Besame's glosses as well. Just ordered some new ones.
But, this summer I was looking for a sheer gloss with a hint of color to go with my summer dresses. I found Maybeline Super Stay lip gloss, and I can't get enough of this stuff. It's a dual container. You put the sheer color on first and let it stay for 2 minutes. Then you add the gloss over it. The color is nice and sheer and it last all day! I just touch it up every so often with the gloss to keep the shine nice. I got a very sheer pink for my modern every day wear, but they also make the shades in red. I really like this stuff, and I usually buy the higher end make-up, but I'm really i love with this particular gloss, and it you can get it just about any place.

I like that Maybelline too. I admit haven't flipped ove the Besame lip gloss yet, but I'll give them another try. My new fave is Mary Kay, they have about 10 or 12 colors and best of all they are not sticky and last for hours. When I was in college I bought a tube of Max Factor lip gloss from the drug store, I've been vintage forever, but it turned sticky alas. It was very hard to find even then. I kept it because the case was so cool and classic. I keep looking for it in the store but they haven't revived it yet, in all of the recent Max Factor incarnations, drat.

Besame seems like a wonderful make-up line, I will definitive try that on (and their eye shadow and lipsticks as well). And the Maybelline gloss seems interesting too. I really like the idea with color and gloss.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

Clinique has some glosses that I really like. Although the color is sheer, they do not get sticky. I love the pigmentation in the MAC glosses (Lychee is sooo pretty!) but I really could go without the stickiness.

I like L'oreal colour juice sticks. They're halfway between a lipstick and a gloss. Sort of a sheer, glossy color, with a little more punch than the average lipgloss. They smell yummy too.

MAC's Lipglass is a good one to try. Normally I use Bonne Belle Vita Gloss. It's a very sheer color, very inexpensive, doesn't get gummy AND they don't test on animals.

If you wear gloss over lipstick, be sure you're not using a petroleum-based product, as it breaks down your lipstick and will cause it to slide right off your lips.

If you want sheer, go for Benefit Benetint Lip balm - pinky and gorgeous! I put it on the kisser with my finger and wipe the excess on my cheeks for a hint of color :)

As for glosses, Chanel Glossimer is where I go when I got $25 spare! A little sticky, but they last and last.

I am a lip glass fiend, so I usually have more that a girl could possible need in one day! I picked up a tube of Aveda color in Jamberry. I also have a tin of Peaches n Cream lip balm by "Urban Rituelle" Only problem is that you have to use your finger to apply. Good gloss goes bad when you are always sticking fingers in it :p

I love Lancome Juicy Tubes , they are all sticky or anything !
I also love Rimmel Underground Loud Mouth Gloss, it's more like a lipstick than a gloss, highly pigmented, the shade i wear is Kiss Of Death, which is red ( of course )

I like the revlon glosses. I can't tell you the name (they only make one as far as I know) because the airport took them last week when I flew to Dallas. Rather annoying but they feel good on and there are several colors to choose from. They last a decent amount of time for a gloss too. They add a little color but not a ton.
