The felt is more dress weight that western. More like a vintage Stetson Royal De Luxe Open Road than a 3X. The color on this one is also lighter and bluer than any silverbelly or Gray mist or silvermist felt that I’ve even seen. It has a glacier blue vibe.
Too bad it's not my size, its got my name on it!

A lot of companies produce or have produced an open road style hat, but the term actually refers to a Stetson correct? And, if a Stetson open road has been re-bashed to a different style it would no longer be an open road, correct? It seems to me that the term refers to a particular style produced by Stetson. For instance, a teardrop made from an open road. I really couldn't care less, just saying. Levine has black open roads in stock but no 7 1/4, on sale $199.00. Damn!

Open Roads originally came with an open crown so that you could bash it any way you wanted. The factory center dent/cattlemans crease on Opens Roads is a later incarnation of the hat.

A cattleman crease does not define an OR. As Dave points out above, prior to hat companies impressing a crease into a hat, it was buyer's choice what crease you gave it. There are numerous photos and ads of ORs creased in various ways.

Oh, and have you considered a black Camp Draft instead of the Stetson OR? Same profile, better price, and it's open crown!
