Thank you gentlemen. I just couldn't stand to see her in another one of those damned spray painted plastic straw atrocities that rock & roll reality TV stars and most women I see today wear to western events. There were a few other ORs and clones there, but only on very old cowboy gentlemen. Thanks, Frank

The rodeo is in town this weekend, and my small wife hates big cowgirl hats, so I found her what looks to be a size 7 Resistol San Antonio or other Resistol Open Road clone on eBay, gave it a little tweaking, and she wore it to the rodeo today. I knew I'd get her in a hat sooner or later. Frank

That looks just right, not too overdone.

Tell your wife I (we) like it on her. Picture perfect!

Thank you gentlemen. She would certainly be easier to buy for, as she fits the 6 7/8 to 7 range that I always see heartbreaking deals on eBay in. She's only about 4'11", so regular sized cowboy hats make her look like she might tip over. We make quite a pair, as I'm 6'5" without the hat and boots. More rodeo today, last day. Frank

Got her to wear the Resistol again today. The second photo shows the height difference, and why she might need a smaller brim, especially if I need to dance with her. Frank

This really belongs in the western thread, but in response to those photos of the hot pink brims, I saw hats this weekend I wouldn't wear on a bet. Lots of hair-on cowhide brims, all sorts of neon colors, brims with tooled leather above and below, and that was just on the men. This is not the little town my grandfather first drove a string of rental horses into in 1927, that's for sure. The rodeo looked a lot more Rodeo Drive or Vegas showgirl than the ones I grew up attending, although the girl's trick riding team and mounted shooting shows were top notch. Frank

Frussell, I've got to say, your wife's Resistol actually resembles the way my modern Stetson one is creased, right down to the cattleman's crease and the curl towards the front and sides. I think that's a great look, a little curl on the brim from the sides, and a bit for the front. Coincidentally, I've taken to wearing mine very similarly to that in the pictures, and that's a nice hat too!

Not so long ago there was a topic with a list of all open road clones... After 8 pages of google search I can't seem to find it. Can anyone send the topic (via pm or on this topic) where that list was...

Schoble has a Mainliner as well. I had one but sold it a couple months ago. As with the Adam Mainliner, it's an OR-Stratoliner type. So that can be added to the ever expanding list.
