Thanks, Bowen. It has a 3 1/2 brim. May have had a 3 ply originally but it had a thin leather belt type hat band when I got it. It had a wide sweat stain that I used the wide band to cover and it was close to the binding color.

It says, " Asepto Leather Insured. I remember looking up " Asepto" when I got the hat. They went out of business in the 1930's IIRC.

The cowboy on the horse is woven into the liner with various colored threads.

It might be the one I just got , I will post pictures of it . Black 7 3/8 2 7/8 brim nutria . Was listed as 3 inch brim but is actually 2 7/8 . First post in a while so have to relearn picture uploads LOL. These pictures are credited to eBay seller kamtiques.

Yes I do not have a black hat. Lots of tan. It is unbelievably soft , was very pleased the brim was OR size. The brim is also masterfully shaped, would like a bit more upturn . Sold a nutria a while back as it was 1/4. The vintage fit perfect in 3/8 as they shrink a bit over the years. So the question I have is what the year might be, and if any one knows anything about Veta`s Store in Torrington Wyoming. A very historical junction with Fort Laramie, the wagon trails and gold rush for example.

Same liner as mine,but mine is covered with the onion skin.My sweat stamp is also different.
