The "Moonshiner" new Aero Style

I just decided not to confuse the announcement thread with different design elements. No cloak-n-dagger- sorry to disappoint. I have a hard time shifting gears from SJC to TFL sometimes

I like the back and the name! otherwise looks a bit same same with many other button up jackets at least to my (albeit untrained) eye.

I have been theory-crafting a jacket just like that this very day and now this gets posted. What a coincidence. Wow.

I love the broader lapels of double breasted coats but wearing a black leather double breasted coat in Germany is a real bad call, like really, really bad. Perfectos got the lapels but the overall styling is usually very biker business and not very casual. Also buttons > zippers. So yeah, this style is the answer to what I am looking for for a while now. Great idea by Aero!

My first thought here was the 'Michael Wittmann' look though his was wool. But going deeper I suppose it is the more serious side to Herr Flick. So how do Goths get on with their look because a big part is a full length black leather coat but shod with those spiky boots rather than jackboots.

Goths aren't as bound up in WW2-via-Hollywood fantasy I think! I'd wear that in black, though the "second Bootlegger" I've been considering for some time would be brown.... a buttoned up version would be even better as a point of distinction from the one I already have.

On the WW2 thing, in black it does recall the general shape of a non-Wehrmacht panzerjacke, but the visible buttons distinguish it from that very clearly.

I'd like to see it in brown, which might give more tone variation, as for me the black renders it a bit blocky and severe.

I would love one, SS tank commander lookalike or not. But the style would not suit me now. Too many sausage sandwiches I'm afraid(the English lorry driver kind)
Actually the style looks a little German, but I'm thinking more fantasy Metropolis look now Mr CWangler mentions the buttons.

Particularly like the rust colour. Always good to see more patterns being added: I count 44 new new patterns since the departure of the old regime, not to mention the refining of existing ones.

Brown would give it a bit more of the Snake Plisken feel, I think (even if not, unlike some other options on the market already, an exact copy). I'd certainly consider that. I'm seeing it myself in a seal goatskin (the kind that shows through russet where it rubs and ages)...

As I recall, the Panzerwraps, both Heer and SS, were based on short civilian ski-jackets. So noone should see it as copying Nazis, imo - you're just claiming a style back for ordinary, decent people. TBH, thopugh, I'd perfectly happily wear a Panzerwrap in black wool ,whatever the lapel shape, out and about - absent any sort of military marking, the average person on the street is more likely to think of it as a variant on an MC jacket than anything else.

Lovely looking lining, especially the redder one on the left. I think I've seen similar available for kilting?

What sort of weight is it - lighter than a blanket lining?

As I've said before, I wouldn't wish what the Calders were put through on anyone, but the silver lining has certasinly been that Ken and the team have certainly come back with a really revitalised sense of purpose and creativity. I do sometimes wonder whether Aero would be still as popular as they are had the brand carried on with the line-up as it was in 2011, or whether we'd all have moved on to the next thing by now.

Ok, a bit off topic so I will just add this little bit.
Most of the wool panzer wraps that are worn by reenactment groups are actually a Scandinavian military jacket(Not sure which country, Sweden?). Not quite the same but near enough. probably out of date by now.

Yip, same with a lot of the "M43" tunics worn by Heer re-enactors.

Think I have to agree. At least I know what I'm saving up for now. One of these with a Harris tweed/strome tartan lining would make such a great cold weather jacket.

Pretty sure it is Vincenza, pictures on the website show too much grain for CXL and it looks like it is a black on black leather which would also point to Vincenza (CXL and tumbled CXL are black on brown).

Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has seen any of these in the wild? I have seen a brown vicenza one on the Aero website that looks amazing.

I'm seriously considering this style over the Seabiscuit because of the buttons.

Yes good question. I've also been doing the occasional search for any new moonshiner images. You'd have thought there'd be some out there by now!

I would definitely vote for a Moonshiner over the Seabiscuit, but it's probably at the top of my Aero wish list so I'm sort of biased. Depends what you want out of a jacket I guess. I love the idea of a cold weather moonshiner with maybe a Harris tweed or heavy cord lining; lancer front to keep the wind out with a cord backed collar... I digress.
