THE MALLORY MILE

The Mallory Ten. The felt is fantastic! The brim is 2 5/8” and not 2 3/4” as stated, but other than that it’s just as described. What I thought was a felted edge, and what still looks like a felted edge from the top, turned out to be one of the nicest underwelts I’ve ever seen. The open crown is approximately 5 1/2 inches and the ribbon is just barely over one inch wide.

A wonderful Mallory Ten. That rolled edge underwelt is quite well done.

Just picked up this Mallory. 7 1/4 and a bit loose on my noggin. I'm starting to like this felt. Is this "heather felt"?

Sweeeeeet, Brent. Glad you found a real vintage bowler in your size.

My latest Malloy in a very hard to find 7 5/8. It actually fits my long oval head very well.

If I remember right, @buler placed the “tombstone” mark as being from 1929 to 1935 and I believe that this union mark is a post 1934 style so that gives us a pretty small window for dating this hat. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Another great old Mallory. This time a soft felt homburg. The brim has a lot more of the D’Orsay curl than my later vintage Homburgs. The felt is a super dark inky blue. I juxtaposed it with my black derby to demonstrate that it is actually blue…it looks the darkest black except in bright direct light.

That’s a beauty. Shame it’s not your size. LOVE that liner.

That's another awesome find, Brent. Most of these older blue hats lean towards black quite a bit. I do notice that the brim curve is the same all round. Maybe that's an American hat style choice; the European ones seem to have a narrower brim curve front and back and wider at the sides.

Thanks, Stefan. Am I being disloyal by saying I like the European way of narrowing the brim curve front and back more like bowlers/derbies?
