This has probally been brought up before but we need a card. Nothing major, just a small business card that has the logo found at the top each page with some info about what this place is about & that we are into things vintage & golden era. So many times have I seen someone somewhere & wish I could find an easy way to tell them about the site without having to find a pen & paper to write out the domain. I tried to make one up in MS Word but alas my computer is acting up tonight. Maybe we could leave the back blank so we can write out user name on it so they know who to look for once they get here.

Just a thought.

Thanx!!!

The program to use is called Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator...

The program to use in designing a Business Card is Adobe Photoshop or, better yet, Adobe Illustrator. Easy-to-follow tutorials are everywhere on the internet.

Inkscape is said to be a decent freeware substitute.

Then once you have your cards printed up, there's the niftiest trick of all, which I picked up when doing some business in Japan.

Leave the back of the card blank. And then, take them down to Little Tokyo (or your local Japanese neighborhood) and have a print shop put your info on the back in katakana.

Then when you hand somebody your card, you hand it to them without looking, but with the side with the Japanese printing face up.

The other person will look at it and give you a "What the hell?" comment.

Then you tell him "Sorry about that, just flip it over."

The person you just handed your card will be less likely to forget that card or the person who handed it to him.

They're cool looking, but not as practical as a card to keep on you to pass out. They're not as inexpensive as business cards, they're not practical if you don't smoke or hang out with groups who do (I'm allergic to smoke... :p ), and they're mighty tough to keep a few tucked under your sweatband. But I'll still need to order some. ;)

BW--I'll try to come up with something tonight, also.

Can't figure it out on Word. Any tips on getting the format right? I'm not keen on downloading any of that freeware stuff. Always am wary of such things. And can't afford the Photoshop. What about having them custom made? I know a place near me that does that sort of stuff. I'll check it out sometime. See if I can't try and have some printed up. Maybe even send them to you folks who want them here for maybe a couple bucks so it covers the original cost? I'll see how much they are. Doubt a ton. And we wouldn't need to buy our own cardstock and use up ink.

No guarantees, though.

I've used Vistaprint for customised business cards and other stationery for years -- they're very good and the prices are excellent. Just keep a close eye on what goes into your shopping cart, as they like to "suggest" extra items which you may not want.

I have thought about this before. It would be cool to make some but I think it would be better if there were Official Fedora Lounge cards that could be downloaded and printed out. That way we would all have the same cards.

It's come up before...

And I put together a file to use to print such cards onto business card stock. MK asked me not to put it out as he wanted to control the quality of items that represent his endeavors here. I respected his wishes on the subject and did not make it available and never printed any for my own use.

Regards,
Tom

all other issues aside...

do you really all want to carry -two- cards around to hand out?

I have a personal card....which is useful for both vintage folks and non...and if I discuss the FL...I can just write the address on the backside....

just like I would write my actual phone # on the back if I actually want someone to have that...

(my cards are email and website address only, so that I can control who can just call me randomly...)

Total PITA to carry around another type of card for one conversation then another....many of us already have business cards, and personal cards.....a 3rd? hahah
