This was a nice find. I mentioned before I don't need any more black homburg hats, but this was an early Brummel's, so what needs must. Turned out it's not a homburg at all, but a lords hat. Nice surprise there.
So. Brummel's Elite lords hat in black. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 6cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. The brim curl is really nicely done, one of the finest I've seen, and this gives the hat a nice sleek and elegant look. Some of the stitches already gave way, so I don't want to look under the sweatband anymore. It is an early one though, late forties, early fifties likely.

Barbisio Rex lords hat in black. Size 60 with the raw edge brim at 5cm and the crown at 11,5cm at the center dent. Fairly sure this is a beaver felt, even though it doesn't say so on the hat. The hand and the way it shapes and the smell of it when steaming all says beaver to me. It does have a cord and curiously enough it has a double liner. You can feel there's another liner underneath the top one and you can see the different material in the shot of the label. Must have been done on purpose and the label is on top of both, so not done as a replacement. Style, material, finishing; it's all top notch. Love it.

Quite a decent and stylish hat actually with a nice hand to the felt. A bit soft in the crown. The sweatband is very nice with a blue stitch sewn in. Petersham ribbon though. Weighs 118 grams.

That’s really great, Stefan! It reminds me a bit of a variation on my soft crown Stephen Stetson lords hat, which is blocked like a bowler. Nice !

Got my first Lords hat! Charity shop find; only $40 Australian. It’s a vintage Fayrefield hat with little vent holes on the sides. Not many examples of Fayrefield hats out there; they were a Melbourne hat maker (mid 20th century?). Not great at photographing black hats. Definitely needs a bit of a brush, but the felt is beautifully soft and velvety. Also got my wife a vintage black Fayrefield homburg in her size from the same shop!

I do like a vent pattern like that on a felt hat. Not something you see at all often now, but really ideal for those 'in between felt and straw' days when straw isn't enough but felt is just too hot...

Tight brim curl

Not an expert in American hats but I think this particular color combo along with the label/size tag and "midnite" name might suggest Dobbs or Cavanagh as the maker (at least that's the closest I've come by-feedback is welcomed). Perhaps in the 50's

@Short Balding Guy wore his homburg version (Cavanagh) with matching brim binding today and I believe @steur has one too

That's the second Tripler I find. I've sold a grey homburg one to @Steve1857 some years back. The styling of that one alluded also to Dobbs (or Cavanagh), but can't recall any of the labels
