The Linen Suit

Of all the vintage suits one can own, few say "Vintage" more than a light linen suit. For those of us in tropical climates, it gives us the chance to dress smart just a little further into the summer. I saw the "Great Gatsby" with Leonardo DiCaprio, and since I live in an old tropical city - Hanoi, well I just couldn't resist.
I brought the natural colored linen over to my tailor, cotton for the lining and coconut buttons. He seemed to understand what I was after, and a few weeks later, he gave me this. I got it done with partial lining, fish tail back, patch pockets, peaked lapels, and double vented back. My tailor really put a lot of work into it so afterwards, he insisted I get some good quality photos. So Mr. Hung, this one's for you.

That's a very timeless looking suit. The lapel shape is quite striking and keeps the jacket on the stylish (rather than nondescript) side of classic.
Good choice of buttons, they add just a touch of character to the suit which make it work in a more casual context.
I'm glad your tailor avoided any 'trendy' impulses.
All in all a very good effort.
But no turn ups on the trousers??? Of course that is personal choice.

A suit that truly stands out! Personally, I'd have left undone the top button but it's a matter of personal taste.

Thanks, I wanted cuffs on the trousers, but my tailor is very idiosyncratic man and refused to cuff them because the fabric bolt wasn't long enough and he didn't want to splice.

I was hoping to be able to "roll" the top button, but he designed it flat so it doesn't quite lend itself to top button open. I feel like it is a mite too formal, but it is comfortable, and it fits- this is hard with my torso shape.
