The Lee Lounge

Sometimes luck is on your side. Browsing through a big crate of hats last friday I found this: a Lee homburg in navy blue. Judging by the limited number of pages in this thread they are not that common and on this side of the pond they are virtually non-existant. More luck: it is in like new condition and it is in my size. Brim at 6,5 cm and crown 11,5 cm at the pinch (I pinched it). Without further ado: Lee blue label (no model name on the sweatband and there never was one).

You have the best luck. I wish I had a pile of new hats to dig through. Love this color so much.

I love those script-logo Lees! And a 'burg to boot!
Blue Label was a 10 dollar hat in th e early 50s I believe.
Beautiful piece and a great color. Awesome score!

John, Mike, thanks! Never thought I'd see one. The bin I was digging through were in fact all vintage hats and most of them were rubbish (well, to me anyway). This one immediately stood out. I thought it was black at first untill I held it next to a borsalino homburg in black I found as well (in a different store). Paid 15 euros for it (little victories).

Time to revive the Lee Lounge, I guess. I finally scored vintage fedora that fits my head. This is a pristine Lee Trinity, size 7 3/8 that I found in a antique store today for a whopping $35. The cool part for me is that it originally came from a store here in Harrisburg, PA where I live. It's so light and comfortable on the head. Looking forward to enjoying this for a long time to come.

Wow Dave, looks NOS. A study in the details of a classic Lee. My parents came from the Harrisburg area, migrated to the west coast around WWII.

Wow, cool! I imagine the days when downtown Harrisburg had some of those classic stores. There's one old guy left who sells a few hats and some custom shoes, but I think he's gone now.

Heck of a find! I bought a Lee blue label and got it in hand last week. Like yours it's very light and a joy to wear!

My recent addition for the Lee Lounge. A mid-50's ? Really, Really, clean Whippet clone but with a wind cord. This would be one of Lee's $10 models that the ads say compare to "their" $12.50 model.............. It is just over 5 inch crown with a 2 1/2 inch brim. 1 1/2 inch sweat and 1 3/4 inch crown ribbon.....3/8 bound brim. Really cool sort of a light tan felt that takes on differant hues in the light. Ribbon is darker, binding is lighter.
This one is a bit of a conundrum for me......is a full 7 3/8.....it ALMOST fits, but.....do I try to give it a bit of a stretch....or pass it on? Hmmmmmmmmmmm Time will tell. It is such an awsome hat....I would really hate to give it up........even if I could only occasionaly wear it when my hair is really short....Hmmmmmm

I always go for a little stretch. This is just too awesome not to try.

I am treating the sweat now......after a couple of weeks I will try for the stretch. Patience and time will often do the trick. I often slowly stretch it over a months time. When it is where I want it I will leave the hat stretched for a couple of months set up in a hat carrier that preserves the brim, much like a flange block.....then it will stay!!!!
Treated in this manner I have never had a hat shrink back....just takes time.
I have a lot of patience SOMETIMES. This hat deserves it!!
