Sools woolfelt hat in black. Unsure about the maker, because all of the labels are gone. Sools had hats made by various manufacturers with Mossant and Laubin as the ones I've seen most often. Size 57 with the brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Really nice proportions to the hat. Even has a bit of reverse taper. First time I've seen a woolfelt hat for Sools, but that could be because they didn't survive. Weighs in at 138 grams. Also an early one.

There was a label there once (picture above). The square size points towards Mossant as the most likely maker.
Stefan, great! Always nice seeing these old survivors. Thanks for posting

Very cool, Stefan: I really like the shape/proportions!

I've already seen one Sools woolfelt, I think - That one should also have endet up in Panos' faithful hands, if I'm not mistaken?

Now that we're all back, time to see some more old woolies.

I saved them because of the fine details that can really transform an otherwise plain black wool hat. A prime example of it's Era, I think. God knows should I have jumped onto it, had it been in better condition (or price ;))

Very cool, Panos. Almost has bowler finishings on the inside! Rare to see a sweatband that ornate in a woolfelt hat (or any other hat for that matter).

Sucharipa Wien "Original Öster. Zeugnis / Original Austrian Manufacture", 58 cm, Wool, 175 grams, possibly early 1930s. There is no paper label behind the Sweatband. The black Wool Felt has a fine finish. The black Band is of medium width with frayed Bow. The Sweatband and Liner are both Off White. There is a functioning braided Wind Cord. The overall condition is excellent.

"Dogma" "Striegau", Wool, 57 cm, possibly 1930s maybe later 1920s and most likely made by Berlin - Gubener Hutfabrik. This is based on the Paper Label type and that "Striegau" was located in Germany but after WWII Strzegom, Poland. The Hat was sold by Hut Köhl Kehl am Rhein** which is directly across the Rhein from Stroudsburg. The Wool felt is very pliable with high gloss. The overall condition is very good and the Crown Tip Patch is still in place. The "Dogma" brand / mark is very unique. I enjoy finding these old German Wool Soft Felt Hats and this one is a great example.

Heinrich Balke Bremen "Prima Weser Hut", 58 cm, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 3 inches, possibly late 1920s. This a Wool Soft Felt Hat with Back Bow and luckily the Crown Tip Patch is still present. I really like finding old Wool Soft Felts and I waited a long time for this one to arrive because of shipping issues.

What can I say more than the photographs?

L. B. Hats "Prima Original", Wool, possibly late 1930s early 1940s. The paper label is missing and there are no company marks. The hat came from a Czech source so I am fairly certain the maker was from Czechoslovakia regardless of the English names. The Wool Felt easily dry creases and has a very nice finish. The Crown is just over 6 inches Open but not sure that comes across in the photos. I really enjoy finding these old European Wool Soft and Stiff Felt Hats. I think this one is fantastic.

Emil Seeling Neudamm** "Bellona", 58 cm, Back Bow, Crown Open 6 inches, Brim 2 3/4 inches, possibly later 1920s. The black Wool felt easily dry creases and has a nice glow. I have few of these old Wool hats with similar paper labels but I believe this is the oldest. The Crown Patch is missing.

This could be a Sheep surrounded by an "F" and a "S" so possibly Friedrich W. Schneider Köln.

Karl Misik - O. F. Hess (possibly), Wool, 59 cm possibly early 1930s. There is no company mark of this hat but it was part of my May 2015 NOS Czech find that included many Karl Misik - O.F. Hess hats. The paper label is in English so probably for export. The Felt is Wool Mélange that easily dry creases.
