Well said, everyone! I agree that there are advantages that I need to come to terms with for wearing a wide-brimmed hat in the heat. I just hate being hot so much, despite the orders from my dermatologist. What I'm more getting at is the advertising that comes along with wide-brimmed hats that they "keep you cooler." No, they don't, they keep you safer but warmer. It's basic science, and an easy way to prove it is to wear one during a hot, hazy, humid summer day here in Philadelphia. I'll last about 5 minutes before giving up. I'll try harder next summer.
