Well Netflix has released a new movie with Costner and Harrelson. Anyone have any idea on these fedoras? I love Costner's look.
I enjoyed it a lot. But I also grew up all around that area. Some great history. I felt it was a well done movie. No clue about the hats but I plan on watching that tonight. Looks good!
Thanks very much, I hadn't seen that interview yet. Usually if I can't find out any info, I email the costume designer. They almost always respond which is a nice change. The costume designer for the film (Daniel Orlandi) said that the hats were custom made at Optimo hats in Chicago, with the intention of getting thee hats as accurate as they could

The writer asked me about the real hats they wore in the photo and I told him they were Cowboys so they wore Stetsons (OR was the best option) and he agreed. But the costume designer had other ideas and already had these when he advised them.I hope they weren't trying to get the authentic hat look. I think the Costner hat looks quite different than the ones Hamer wore. Look it up...

Deputy Oakley had a nice looking OR type hat with a cattleman crease. The writer asked me about the real hats they wore in the photo and I told him they were Cowboys so they wore Stetsons (OR was the best option) and he agreed. Aside from the headgear, for a good read on Bonnie and Clyde including the hunt try Go Down Together by Guinn. I found it thorough and interesting.
Hamer's was an OR type hat with the crease changed to a Homburg looking crease instead of the Cattleman's crease. I think that was what you read. Was Costner's a reshaped Homburg? I read somewhere that it was....
