J.Hückel´s Söhne / Jaques Mayer "Standard" Brim 3 1/2 inches, Crown 6 inches, excellent condition, probably 1930s. This is a collaboration with Jaques / Jacques Mayer Hutfabrik (Hat Factory) Bratislava. I am fairly certain this is a one of kind / one off (at least it is to me).

Borsalino boater. Size 56 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 9cm. Excellent condition. The owner was born in 1896 and it was sold to me by his daughter. Hard to tell the age. Borsalino didn't make boaters themselves of course, so this was sourced. First time I've seen a Borsalino boater though and that's the reason why it's posted here.

Beautiful hat Max. I have a Stephen L. Stetson with this Carter feature. Don't know if anyone else used them.

Detachable sweatbands you say? This one of three pieces from Cavanagh that have button-in sweatbands!

Incredible Cav you got there! I have never had the guts to actually remove the buttoned in sweat in one of these Carter equipped hats.

I had forgotten to post this one here.
Nutria Stetson Pendleton Round-up. There is a picture of this hat in a Stetson book.

Lots of history with this one Max. The Pendleton round up has been around since 1910. Big event in eastern Oregon. Spent quite a few nights in the Let er Buck room drinking custom blended whiskey. Hazy memories for sure.

Barbisio Lontra in Misto Ferro. Size 56 with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. A Lontra felt was another one that was high on the search list. While I was looking for a Borsalino Lontra (Bill Hughes has one), this turned up. It doesn't disappoint and Borsalino would be hard-pressed to do any better. The felt is just incredible. Fantastically smooth, soft and malleable. And it's a heather to boot.
Almost certainly pre-war, when Barbisio did more specialty felts (like Rat Gondin - nutria).
Many thanks to @Daniele Tanto who was the go-between as the seller wouldn't ship outside Italy.

Lontra (otter) hats are very hard to find, so I think it deserves a spot here.

Dang! I will say it again: it is a bitter-sweet feeling to see a beautiful, rare hat. You can't find one!

I hadn't realized that in Spanish, otters are called nutrias, but there is no word for the English word nutria. Hmm
