He asked if you would you be interested in trading some of the 39's for a 1940's double breasted tudedo? 1x4 with peaked lapels....

I have an early 50s blue wool skeleton lined DB that was a 44L and I had it cut down to a 44S. I suspect it could be taken out a bit. Impeccable suit but is a 23 pit to pit too small for me.

What ever happened to this thread? Has anyone sold and or traded suits?

I have a couple of really sharp 50's vintage (I think) suits that I bought and had tailored that are still just a bit small (snug) for me. They are 36R, and I can/will give more accurate measurements once I have them. I need to figure out how to upload photos of them and will hopefully have that handled today.

So, is this thread alive and has anyone had any luck selling, buying or trading?

Thanks!

I can't post photos nor can I send or receive PM's. I don't exactly know why. Anyone able to help?

Is it because I don't have enough posts, or???

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You can send and receive PM (private messages) once you have 15 posts. Just post some "love that hat" and you're there in no time.
Pics can be posted from the very first post on.

How to post pics:

1. Compress original pics to a size of 300-600 KB (about 900 or 1100 pixel at the longer side of the image) for a decent image resolution; definitely not smaller. If you don't know which image viewing/ converting program to use, I suggest downloading the freeware program Fast Stone Image Viewer. It's very easy to handle if you're a Windows user.

2. Upload the image files to an image hosting site like Photobucket and copy & paste the IMG code into the message text of your Fedora Lounge posts.

If you want the most simple solution, there's no need to attach pics to posts, or to do anything except copy the IMG code into the text you're about to post.

Note:
You can't post full resolution images (4-5 MB file size) because the website can't handle that much information to load one page, but you can post links to such images in addition to posting the compressed files - or just as an alternative (if it makes things easier for you):
If you're a Dropbox user, copy the original full resolution pics into the public folder of your Dropbox and copy & paste the public link into your Fedora Lounge posts.

Well, I'll give this a try . . .

. . . I have a suit listed in the classifieds right now, but if someone wants to do a trade I'm interested. Here's a few pictures, for more pictures and full size details, follow the link. The suit pictured is a size 43-44 Regular with a 40" trouser waist, that could be let out quite a bit if needs be.

My measurements are:
Chest = 40"
Solders = 18-18 1/2"
Trouser waist = 36-34" depending on the length of the rise
Jacket length = regular to short

Thanks for keeping this thread going. I thought it died as well, but if enough folks sign onto the idea, then it is still possible!

As for me, I have a TON of stuff I could put up...mainly in the 40-42 size, suits and suit jackets/sport coats from the 1940s-1950s. Some of falls outside of the 'premium pricing' current so little would be gained by attempting a sale, although that has little to do with how fantastic some of the pieces are. I wish they were all in my size. I thought for a split second about keeping them all around so just in case I 'fill out' later in life I'd be able to use them, but that makes for a rather poor thinking strategy:D. Still very interested in some 37-39R stuff.

When daylight comes again, maybe I'll snap some quick pictures and throw it up here. Couldn't hurt while it is just sitting around doing nothing except being too big for me to wear;)

This suit is actually no longer available, as it sold in the classifieds.

I would be willing to do a trade for the suit below. If you have something in a 40 Regular to Short, with a 34-35" waist, I'm all ears. The suit is also listed in the FL classifieds here.

- Late 40s/early 50s ('49 Union tag)
- Enormous "bellied" lapels
- Sham cuff buttons
- Hollywood waist trousers
- Orange windowpane check w/ light blue double stripes

There are two flaws, as noted in the pictures; these look like period (home) repairs and are located one on each. When worn, they aren't obvious, as you can see from the first picture (note the larger of the two, on the right sleeve level with the hip pocket).

The measurements are as follows:

Jacket
Chest = 47"
Waist = 44"
Sleeve = 25"
Total length, including collar = 32"
Length, from bottom of collar = 30 1/2"
Shoulders = 19"

Trousers
Waist = 39" + 1.5"
Inseam = 31 3/4" + 1/2"
Outseam = 43 1/4"
Rise = 11 1/2"

Here is another suit I'd be interested in doing a trade for. Again, the suit is also listed in the classifieds.

- Dated 1950 (it's made-to-measure)
- Unusual waistband treatment
- "Fancy" windowpane weave pattern
- Corral/pink pinstripes(!)

The only flaw I can find is the shoddy stitching on the sleeve (pictured), which is a relatively easy fix for a tailor.

I would like $250 US for this suit, which will include USPS Priority shipping w/ insurance and signature confirmation. Anyone outside the U.S., please drop me a line and I'll look up shipping costs.

Jacket
Chest = 47"
Waist = 44"
Sleeve = 25"
Total length, including collar = 32"
Length, from bottom of collar = 30 1/2"
Shoulders = 19"

Trousers
Waist = 39" + 0"
Inseam = 31 1/2" + 1/2"
Outseam = 43"
Rise = 11 1/2"

Im looking size 36/37 suits, separates or sports jackets. for swap. I have some suits/formal wear that are too big for me. I think big problem is complexity of this thread, everyone should post their own size first or last and size of the item. Otherwise people don't see if they have anything for me to swap even they would like to have suit you are offering. If this goes to buying suits it does not differ from classifieds.

I saw that I'm not the only one in my size category :D hard to trade too big suits to my size fellows.

Chrome, I have 2 suits that might fit you, sized at about 36 or so that are a tad too snug on me. I will take photos of them today and post them. Dimensions too if I can find a tape.

I am looking at the suits offered on this thread and they are very nice but are way too big for me.

What size would you guess your suits are, 38?

I am trying to upload photos of the suits I have for trade (or sale) and I am having trouble. I thought that you could upload photos from your desktop, and now it appears that I have to upload them from a URL? Did I miss something? Did I screw something up? Does anyone know how I can upload photos of the suits I have? Thanks in advance for the help!
