I guess none of us really need to worry about all these trivial symmetry details as long as the Fedora Police (FP's) don't come by with their measuring tapes and measure our hats' dimensions for imperfections...I hear you can get a pretty stiff fine for having an irregular crown...

They'll be the ones with the white hat bands. :p

In the end, I think it all comes down to how it looks to you, and if it fits your character and personality. After all, you're the one wearing it. I just happen to be a fan of the lumpy, crinkly, asymmetrical bashes we see in old movies.

I think most of us can agree, though, that the factory creases you get in a typical production hat look a little too perfect, like a clip-on tie...

Now just a minute there Tofu, I was beginning to like you but now you've gone too far by trashing clip-ons.:rage: lol Seriously, I have a very fond memory of them & have started collecting. I was going to start a thread on them one of these days.

Years ago, I heard a very well dressed man say that, even if you wear a clip-on bow tie, it shouls ALWAYS be slightly crooked. That way, it looks like you tied it yourself.*

*The well dressed guy's name was Dean Martin. :D

lol I rescind, I rescind!

At the risk of going too far :eek:fftopic: , that actually does sound really interesting, surely. I'd be interested in seeing your planned thread -- don't let my short-sightedness stop ya. :) Vintage clip-ons, I take it?
