I have a question about the Seattle fit (for those of you that own coats with this fit), how does sizing run? I wear a size large for most companies and was thinking of going with a large. I'm 5'11, 185lbs and have a 40" chest. Would the large work? Thanks.

Compared to the Alaska fit, the Seattle fit is like going down one chest size while keeping the arm and body length the same. For example, a Seattle XL is about the same as an Alaska L tall. I've tried both these sizes on and they seem the same to me. Bob

I have the same height and weight as you but a 43 chest and wear a large in the Seattle fit so you should be fine!!

Thanks. Is the Seattle fit actually fitted? Just curious how much layering you can do underneath. I love my Gustin waxed trucker but it's fitted and doesn't allow for much layering. A single shirt underneath feels perfect but if I were to add a sweater of some sort it would feel tight

With your measurements and wearing a large in the seattle fit you would be able to get a layer or two underneath it no problem. And you would need those layers if you're looking to wear the jacket into later fall and early winter. Hope this info helps.

thanks, that's helpful. I was actually thinking of getting the tin cloth short cruiser rather than the soy wax cruiser. The added cost of the soy wax cruiser ($295) plus the thinner fabric (6oz twill) is keeping me from buying it. the tin cloth short cruiser is 15oz and I should be able to add layers underneath to keep me sufficiently warm in the Fall/Spring. the only downside to the tin cloth short cruiser is that it's very similar to the Gustin waxed trucker which I already own, the only difference being the design of the pockets on the front of the jacket. guess i'm trying to justify a Filson purchase for myself :D

Gustin is supposedly working on a lined waxed trucker, so i'm curious to see how that pans out.

Here's my new tin cloth short cruiser in size large. The fit is perfect.

Btw, I'm thinking of buying the cascade shirt above and was curious about the fit. I believe this shirt is also a Seattle fit, so I'm guessing if I wear a large Seattle fit for the short cruiser then a large in the cascade shirt would work, right?

Congratulations on the fit and look of your new jacket. Their large size in the trucker jackets really fit about the same as a medium. I have a Filson Levi trucker jacket that is a XL (I am 6'2" 185 with 42.5" chest).

darn. I only just noticed that the cascade shirt has those butt-ugly elbow patches which completely ruins it for me.

I think most if not all of the Filson shirts are Alaska fit, in which case I suspect you would wear a medium rather than large given your measurements. If too tight you should be able to return for a refund or exchange. I have Moleskin and Alaska Guide shirts, both in large extra long, and both fit me big. Hope this is helpful for possible future reference.

The cascade shirt is listed as a Seattle fit I believe. I looked at their sizing chart for the large and the neck/sleeve measurements are about where I'm at (17 neck, 35 sleeve). I emailed Filson as well and they told me to go with my usual size, so a large would work

The Filson sizing quest continues. After confirming my size from Filson customer service (in the Seattle fit for the cascade shirt) they offered to give me the chest measurements below:

Small: 44.25"
medium: 47325"
Large: 50.25"
XL: 53.25"
XXL: 56.25"

My chest measures roughly 40-41" around and as you can see their sizes do not correlate with their slimmer Seattle fit. It's possible the rep gave me measurements for the Alaska fit but I specifically mentioned the Seattle fit cascade shirt. If a size large short cruiser fits me in the Seattle fit then so too would a size large cascade shirt in the Seattle fit. To make things even more confusing, I saw a description on another site for this shirt and they recommended sizing down . Looks like I'll have to go in store and try it on to be sure

Sold my first and only Filson Dbl. Mack cause it was a size 50 "Seattle fit". Just bought a cruiser in "Alaska Fit" so I hope I'll be happier.

Picked up my first Filson garment (other than a plaid bucket hat). A Cruiser Vest in a poly/cotton blend. Found it at a local thrift on half-price day. Since it was my size and only 14 cents with tax it had to come home with me. Guessing it is from the 1980s. Oh yeah ... the paint-by-number dogs were there too. :)

Very cool :D

I pretty buy all of my Filson stuff at a heavy discount from Ebay. Just have to be patient and wait for a good deal, and learn to pass on the ones that are priced a little too high.
