My new jacket

Hi All,

Here are the promised pics. From the earlier posts about the tag mine was made in 44-49 range. I have no plans to actually wear it as it is NOS and I want it to stay that way.

Great thread, thank you for posting it!

So it seems my dinner jacket is 1944-49 which makes sense given the style and cut.

Cookie, besides the fact that it is NOS, I would have to take the whole jacket apart to have it expanded as I wear a 38-40. That is why I decided to keep it as is. Trust me, I would love to clean it up and wear it.

Not strictly relevant to the Genuine Cloth...but what is the closest suiting in hand and weight available today?

I would think a heavy linen, but they are getting really hard to find.

(I actually thought PB was linen until the innertoobz came along.)

Great question Fletch!
I've often fantasized about getting together a group of Loungers for a run of a few hundred yards of modern Palm Beach material to be made into garments.

That is always been my interest as most Palm Beach jackets don't come in size 48R.
I bet we could have some fabric made for $1000 dollars a yard.:D
