The durability of NOS Crown zip

Roma , I've had quite a few LW jackets with zippers and only had a problem with one: the pull broke and Stuart sent a replacement, I replaced it and there hasn't been a problem since.

I bought one jacket from Stuart with a Crown pull only, no problem with that one.
Bern1, that jacket with the crown zipper, is it 4 oz? Is the zipper #5? Is it nos?

The jacket is I believe 3 oz leather and I think only the pull itself is Crown, however I am not 100% sure about that.

Here is the reason: I recently bought this jacket used and the pull appears to be nickel and the zipper brass. I bought a jacket just like this from Stuart brand new about 15 years ago and I paid for a Crown spring loaded pull just like this. It was simply added on, which is why I think this might be the same.

If there were pics somewhere of nos crown zips maybe I could tell more.

I purchased two well worn # 10 crown zips on eaby from Twain $30 for the pair. I used on a a vintage Star Glove motorcycle jacket where the original Crown main zip tape gave way at the male starter prong. I used the other crown on a Aero FQHH Highwayman. Both replacement Crowns worked smoothly better than the new zips that are used on new repo jackets.

Thanks for your info, @jonbuilder. I think the #10s are pretty much ok. I have them as main zipper on both my LW jackets, they've been ok so far.

I've posted a few pics below, Bern.

I bought a Real McCoy’s L2A recently and the original zipper had been replaced with a nylon coil zip. I’ve replaced this with a ‘UK’ silver YKK (chromed brass with male side on the right). I attached the male side to the left and the female side to the right to hide the YKK on the stopper box and mimic the US style of male pin on the left and replaced the puller with a #5 crown puller/slider I salvaged from a broken zipper. While not exactly period correct it looks a great deal better than when I bought it.
