I just wanted to add some photos of this - not the usual "Disney lid".....!

A knock at the door...a mysterious package...NOT!!! I knew darn well what was in it, just surprised it got here so quick. Order date was the 3rd, that's pretty speedy delivery.:)
Anyhoo, a few months ago I bought a Disney that turned out to be an Anton Peschel made for Disney. At first I was bummed thst it wasn't a real Disney, but soon was very impressed by what I had. Still wanted one, so I was happy when I saw this one.
Mr. Disney "Handover"
2 3/8" brim, nicely undrrwelted. 5" open crown. Interesting back bow.

As always, help with the vintage would be appreciated. My guess by dimensions is 50's but that's just a guess.
Side note...this felt is the softest, floppiest smooth felt I have handled. Very lightweight at just 91 grams. I was impressed by Disney's subcontractor, now I'm doubly impressed by the real thing!

I'd say 50s too, Moe. I think there was some switch over to Mr. Disney sometime in the 50s. Plus that back bow. Disney was my first vintage hat. The felt really is great.

Don't forget to cross-post to The Disney Diner.

I seem to remember seeing something about '43 being when the Mr. was added
and this is the Disney Diner...:D

Thanks moon! Trying to get a good selection of vintage before even 60's stingies are outrageously priced. Got lucky with some chances I took...like this one being tagged a 7 1/8, but I went with seller's measurement of 22 1/2" and it fits great!

No prob, Fruno! We all suffer from the occasional bout of cerebral flatulence...:) Plus, you were probably thinking about that great felt, not the thread.

Nice Disney Moe. You are correct about the date ... probably mid 1950's. The change from "Disney" to "Mr. Disney" was indeed in '43.

1970s is probably a safe call. Stevens produced them at their St. Joseph factory during that decade, but the trademark assignment was never conveyed beyond the John B. Stetson Co. in 1966. It's possible the brand was produced into the early 1980s, but it apparently never made the relocation to Garland.

Aaron,

I've published what little there is about Disney Hats on my website, at http://www.thehattedprofessor.com/disneyhats.html.

Brad,

Did the branding change to Mr. Disney exclusively after 1947? Or did they still use the Disney New York logo after that? The hat I posted a couple of pages back screams 50s to me, but it has the Disney of New York logo.
