I'm excited to report that my 'L'ouvrier' cap, the one I replicated from the original French workwear cap I bought from our very own Baron Kurtz on these pages, has just been acquired by the Costume and Textiles Department of LACMA for their collection! They're making a display of a 1930's French worker and it fits the bill, as it were...
Thanks for the info, Johnny. I must have had something made of that pattern and color when I was a kid, or maybe in another life. It's weird how such a thing can trigger a response in me. I saw it and thought "Awwww."
Here comes Mohair Sam! My new 'ArtKraft' cap. It's the widest 8-dart I make, at 11 pie-plate inches. 1940's burgundy wool mohair with center seam and front box pleat, vintage cotton liner, leather appointments, vintage snap. I dig the color.
