I've not emailed her, but I visited her shop in Paris last year and she speaks excellent English. Actually a large portion of her vintage menswear is American.

These Zasu caps really aren't that bad, you know. The dingleberry and the pleated seams aren't to everyones taste, but you get a lot of cap for your money, and after buying four of them, I can tell you that they are very well sown. I have yet to discover a better sized and shaped brim. This one is a nice, light, soft wool - the comfiest of the three newsboys I've bought and holds a good shape. There's another one in the this fabric in his ebay store with the same fabric in a size 58 or 7&1/4". Sorry for posting another video, but I am jacked of taking unflattering, close up flash bulb photos of myself and having to upload them on flikr. My photography skills are even worse than my singing, I reckon. This vid is blurry from the low light, but you can see the shape of the cap and the way it sits on my head. I take no offence if you turn the sound off :p

Jason I like the brim on that one. It extends forward from the body of the cap just the right distance. The vocal was off a half step from the video some how in the encoding it must have missed it up. Nice microphone for sure.:)

I think the thicker woollen ones are the best of the Zasus - they are only a fabric filled brim, so the size is quite amazing really. I'm not sure why the seams roll over on the crown like they do - if you pull them out, they are all straight and well sown. Maybe it is just the length of the panels or the way they are cut. If you unclip the brim and pull the crown up, it seems almost big enough to fit a basketball inside.

Ah yeah, I noticed that. I record video and sound seperately. I psynch the mic sound with the video sound and then delete the video sound, but something has gone wrong along the line.

I have a question about caps that have been blocked. I recieved a Wigens cap in the mail today from Northern Hats - they have some on sale for half price at the moment (I am guessing because it is the end of the cold season up there). It came in a box big enough for some felt hats and when I opened it up, it was sitting there unsquashed in a perfect head shape, without and paper stuffing or anything other to keep it in shape. This is a cap with earflaps and a polyester lining, so it's a warm cap that I will only wear on cold days in winter in Australia. My question is, because it is going to be in storage most of the year, do I have to store it in any special way to keep it in that blocked shape? It doesn't seem a good idea to jam in the drawer like I can with my HP caps (God bless them for being such easy care and packable). At the moment, I stuffed a t-shirt inside of it and gave it a drawer to itself. I guess I should probably get a hat stand.

More unflattering, badly taken, close-up photos to pop up on google searches. Youtube videos are much more flattering with low resolution. But ah well, I guess these pics give something for parents to frighten their children with - 'If you don't eat your vegetables, the big nosed, cap wearing troll will get you!' But I don't think anyone has posted photos of Wigens caps. Perhaps they aren't for the die hard vintage sect, but in this case, the bigger brims that Wigens have added to the Ivy Cap shape are an improvement on tradition. I personally can't stand little caps that sit up on top of your head.

I just throw my winter caps on a shelf in a plastic bag hanger in my closet. Let my head to the shaping as I wear it. That brim is nice on the Wigens. I have a few of the cheap caps to wear to work with the brim and front sewn together they are ok just not as nice or fun to wear as
the bigger caps.

Yeah, I guess the cap will get reblocked when I stick it on my head:p The brim is sewn on the Wigens, but the thing is built like a Volvo. Being a woolgrower, I am finding it very satisfying to buy a new cap with Harris or Donegal Tweed - lovely fabric and great that they are still weaving it. I've ordered a City Sport cap in Donegal Tweed. Not a fan of polyester linings, as I have said, but should be alright in winter caps.

I received a Wigens cap for Christmas. A very well made cap, with an ample brim. The only problem for me is the size it's a 59cm which is a bit large for me.

Ah, that's a pity, Razzman. Good colour and those Harris Tweeds are wonderful fabrics. These caps are well made and definitely an outdoor cap for those winter days when you appreciate the warmth and protection over looks. But they don't really look that bad either.

Today I found a very nice flatcap that I would have liked to own, but it was fairly expensive. I wish I had taken a picture to share but it was a camel sort of khaki-ish color and was 100 percent wool. It felt good and fit me very well. I actually happened to be wearing a brown tweed jacket and the hat complimented it perfectly. Unfortunatly the cap was 30 dollars!!! Far outside my current budget

30 dollars is a good price for a cap. I have to confess that I can be a cheapskate myself. Times are hard. I understand if people have to save. But after wearing a 20 euro cap (which is fairly modern) for 2 years I decided that I save at the wrong end and now I am waiting for a better retro sports cap from france. It will get a lot of wear.

I couldn't afford the Mr Freedom Cap but maybe one day...
