Nice outfit. But you should keep your booger hook off the bang switch unless you're really going to shoot somebody. And pointing it at your own face while doing so is, er, questionable.

That's just for the picture, i would never leave my "booger hook" on any trigger like this in any situation. No worries

yes, im the photographer, i do films set photography among other things like cameraman. While I totally understand your concern about safety and example, it's a different matter. I don't see much action movies characters not going trigger happy on promo pictures. That's not the type of shot we are looking for unfortunately. Just like when an actor is pointing a gun at my camera, i don't see myself telling him that's it is inappropriate because that's exactly what we are looking for, a guy pointing a gun at the camera. I'm sorry if that's bothering you, i'm usually the first one to get concerned when people are fooling around wih guns or any type of weapon if it's not in a strictly professional environment.

Here is the Regal Hat Company vented derby that came to me last night. It has a nice 5 1/4" high crown and a 1 7/8" brim.

Regal was a Chicago manufacturer that seems to have mainly specialized in caps. It was owned by David Spear. Interestingly enough, his brother Harry, owned Spear & Company hats in New York. Their father Solomon was a German immigrant and prominent in the hat industry as well as the Jewish community in the Chicago area. The brothers' two companies merged into Regal-Spear in the late 1910's. Regal-Spear also appears to have focussed on cap making, but I also found ads for both boys and girls children's hats.

The last ad that I can find for a Regal Hat Company derby dates from 1914. The majority of all its derby ads (there aren't many) were published between 1905 (I attach one from that year) and 1907. Regal's advertising hook was that you could get yourself a great hat for just $2.00. I paid a little more, but I agree that it is a great hat. What feels like silk binding and ribbon is a very nice touch.

Love the little surviving details of this beautiful Bowler. That price is interesting, seems kind of high (at least in a numerical sense) for the 1920s? The beginnings of inflation in the Weimar Republic?

Mike, Thanks! It could be a big latter (early 1930s) but my guess is late 1920s. The hyper inflation was earlier prior 1925.

Borsalino melone. This one came with a battersby hat box I was really after and it is far too small (even for me). At thenty five euros for both hat and box I couldn't say no. Size 3 1/2 (or 53). Brim is 5cm and the crown is 11 cm high. This has got to be the best felt on a bowler I have encountered so far (and I have some pretty good bowlers). The model is called "stregone" (which means something like wizard). Judging by the label (with written size) and size-tag this is fairly old. Thirties is my guess (partly based on the seller's info). Another thing of note is that there is an addition to the Borsalino logo: underneath the antica casa fondata nel 1857 there is a translation in Dutch of the "fondata nel 1857" part. Never saw that on a borsalino before.
Last two pictures are one of the shop it came from (P van 't Kaar in Zaandam) and the auction picture.

Stefan, Missed this one. Fantastic Stiff Felt! Interesting regarding the Dutch "fondata nel 1857". Could be similar to the German "Echter" to prove originality? Also great to see the paper label. It's the same as my date stamped 1929 Echter Borsalinos. Sometime during the 1930s this type of paper label was dropped.
