Nice Medalist. By those pictures, I would say it is likely from the 30s. I wish they could actually make brims tightly creased like that now. Most commercially made now are just horrible. The brim is barely curled. :eusa_doh:

My hatter has derby flanges and has promised that I can try to work with them.I let you know how it works out.

I understand that it takes quite a bit of expertise to get that kind of curl to the brim. Too bad all the masters from the 30s are all gone---so much talent has been lost in the hat industry. Luckily we have some custom hatters around who are doing a yeoman's job of keeping many arts alive. :eusa_clap

Yes, it was kind of a dare devil venture, taking the original pictures of the auction in account. I was really pleased with what I got in the end.

Looking forward to seeing your new Dunn one! Good Luck with the chaps or RM. I can tell you stories .... like Bowler restyled with a Homburg crease.

That's a sharp hat.. Very unusual. Not that a bowler is common, but even more unusual with that felt. I like it a lot. Has it's own character. Nice win.

Got the new Dunn today. First impression, it's not as nice as the first, small one. The brim is a bit uneven in the front, and there's a small dent in the front of the crown. It's also a bit bigger than expected (can't a guy catch a break?), mainly a bit wider. I've padded the sweat on the sides for a better fit. It's not a bad hat, and the defects aren't noticeable enough to keep me from wearing it, but I'll still keep my eye out for one in perfect shape. In a shop this time, I've always been a bit wary of buying hats and shoes online for this reason.

Anyway, on to some pictures. I'll get ones of the union stamp, lable, and on my head soon.
