One of my favourite "vintage" looks was this one of Princess Margaret - I thought it so elegant and poised!

And if anyone can help me with that hairdo - I'd be eternally grateful!

What a nice picture, I love the butterfly dress! I bet she woke up the day of the photoshoot and thought: "Enough with the elegant suits, I'm a princess, right? So darn it if I'm not gonna wear a fairy princess dress!

Now I am not a worshipper of royalty.
But in her day this was one of the world's most beautiful women.

The royal stems were too seldom photographed. But what stunners.

Some said she was a dirty girl. Nnnno, I don't believe it. ;)

That picture RitaHayworth posted is one from the set Cecil Beaton took on Princess Margaret's 19th birthday--his photographs really are gorgeous.

In the 1950's she really did have an Elizabeth Taylor style, I think.

And I think she had one of the prettiest wedding dresses--the tiara was a bit large in my opinion but it was 1960 with a bouffant hairdo!

Such a sad end though.

Yes! It was - I had the book from the library many years ago and had forgotten what it was called. I'd love to see it again!

If she was 19 - then the year would have been 1949...

*foot stamping* I want to be a princess!

I AM a Princess ;)
(Says the girl working on Disney Giselle and Snow White costumes ;))

In all seriousness though, she is GORGEOUS! I don't know if it was the makeup, or the photography or just nature, but I always think that women Pre 60's were all so beautiful! I always look at the photos of my Grandmum and Grandma and they were jsut so pretty. Flawless skin, perfect makeup - no dark tired circles like I have :p I honestly don't think we have the same beauty they had back then!

I think it is interesting that the pro-Princess Diana press (UK loungers will know which newspaper can be referred to here) has ascribed her (i.e. Diana's) popularity to her being 'the first good-looking princess'.

Journalists have short memories and clearly don't do research...
