Often, one of the first questions posted by a new member is "what is a good/the best brand of hat?"

Forget the Arts, the Optimos, and the vintage Stetsons and Borsalinos.
They won't keep the sun from burning your skin.
They won't keep the rains off your back.
They won't help protect you from malaria.
They won't make people wonder why no one has thrown a net over you.

What you need is something better than great.
What you need is THE BEST HAT IN THE WORLD

Seems to me that the creator of this bit of headwear is wrong in one very basic fact: It's not a hat, it's a cap! Therefore it cannot be the worlds Best Hat. Best Cap, maybe. :D

Cheers,
Tom

I don't know what you mean.
It's a fedora. It just needs a little stiffener. ;)

Haven't I seen these things on horses? I think you pull the sides forward as in the second picture to keep them from getting spooked by traffic and such. I wonder if they have little earholes on the top.

Versatility. The princes may have the cash, but they lack a hat that can go anywhere and do anything. They're bogged down in tradition.

According to the site:

Its a sun hat, outdoor hat, work hat, sailing hat, boating hat, hiking hat, walking hat, mountaineering hat, climbing hat, horseback riding hat, gardening hat, hunting hat, fishing hat, safari hat, desert hat, archery hat, and a shooting hat.

Saudi head-wear hasn't been tested on gardening or fishing as far as I know, and I find their data as to the other activities to be inconclusive. ;)

Why not just get one of the headgear the Saudi princes wear and be done with it?

I think we call them ventilation holes here, and everyone seems to be interested in them. ;)

OK then.

Didn't Sally Field wear one of those in her first TV series? I think you know which one I'm talking about.

They forgot to mention beekeeping on their website!

Also they should have noted that, when lined with aluminum foil, it stills the voices in your head.

"Still I sing bonny boys, bonny mad boys,
Bedlam boys are bonny.
For they all go bare and they live by the air,
And they want no food nor money."
(And the hats they wear are funny.)

(Not that I have cause to sneer!)

Useful, perhaps, stylish, certainly not. If I felt the need to wear one I'd go for my shemagh. Or (horror!) go bareheaded.
