That tune in your head

The tune I try to keep out of my head at this time of year is Sinatra doing "Oh by gosh, by golly, it's time for mistletoe and holly." I'm getting absolutely no help with it today - we went to two malls and a total of about eight stores and in each one, virtually the minute we walked in the door they fired that one up. Paul's doing a Sinatra tribute show for CLO in a couple months and found out, like Nunsense, the writer's turning it into a series of shows with, you guessed it, a Sinatra holiday music show. I can only imagine, in my worse nightmares, they'd have someone come out as Nancy Sinatra with "This Santa Boots are Made for Walkin'" or similar.

O Tannenbaum / O Christmas Tree

O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum,
wie grün sind deine Blätter!
O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum,
wie grün sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur
zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum,
wie grün sind deine Blätter!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
How are thy leaves so verdant!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!
Not only in the summertime,
But e'en in winter is thy prime.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!

For most of the day on Sunday I had "Bibbeldy, Bobbeldy, Boo" stuck in my head .. I think it's from Bedknobs & Broomsticks and the BBC keep playing that part of the song and it was driving me to distraction.

Yesterday I had "Jackson" stuck in my head as the day before my husband had been doing very loud and bizarre June Carter impressions all eveing lol in the wake of us watching Walk The Line at the weekend.

Try this...

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo
by Disney
album: Cinderella (1950)

Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put 'em together and what have you got
bippity-boppity-boo

Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
It'll do magic believe it or not
bippity-boppity-boo

Salagadoola means mechicka booleroo
But the thingmabob that does the job is
bippity-boppity-boo

Salagadoola menchicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put 'em together and what have you got
bippity-boppity bippity-boppity bippity-boppity-boo

I remember being about 5 years old and thinking Salagadoola was a kind of inedible food-like substance. I think I decided it should be a kind of mush containing mayonnaise, dryer lint, and fingernails, garnished with black olives. Yum.

Is that what it translates as?!

The best I was ever able to figure out was Christmas tree, so my brother made me his own version, " O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum, That's Christmas tree in German!!!" and he'd sing it at the top of his lungs!lol

One that really gets me happy for some reason is Dangerous by Roxette, which is odd cause by the time I was old enough to care they were sooooo over. And "A lovely bunch of coconuts" makes me homicidal:)

I have a ton of tunes I love, a lot of musical genres I admire, but whenever I'm dressed to the nines, for some reason all I hear in my head is the theme from "The Ant and the Aardvark".
I like swing, but of all the songs to have bumping around in your skull...

Thats funny because whenever I am dressed to the nines I hear "Putin on th Ritz" running through my head.

Why don't you just google the lyrics?

I meant commit them to memory. Usually I listen to the song and look at the lyrics to follow but it's been slow-going.

Now this one is stuck in my head

I've Heard That Song Before
Words & Music by Sammy Cahn & Jule Styne
Recorded by Harry James, 1939

It seems to me I've heard that song before
It's from an old familiar score
I know it well, that melody

It's funny how a theme
Recalls a favorite dream
A dream that brought you so close to me

I know each word, because I've heard that song before
The lyrics said: "for evermore"
For evermore's a memory

Please have them play it again
And (Then) I'll remember just when
I heard that lovely song before

I happened to turn on our local public radio station last night, where I heard a flossy little semi-classical waltz piece called "The Student's Waltz," and have been humming it ever since. And sometimes I even sing the lyrics, which were added much later:

"My beer is Rheingold, the Dry Beer
Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer
It's not bitter, not sweet
It's the dry flavor treat
Won't you try extra dry Rheingold Beer!"

I have been watching You Tube videos relating to the40's and I have Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy stuck in my head. Not bad as far as stuck songs go, but come on people, that is not the only song from the 40's. Do some research, children!!

Your post makes me want to see if I can contribute something better to the YT community. I have a lot of videos. I'll have to search and see if I should upload or if it's all been done already. Of course I'd have to include Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, lol... it's a childhood favorite.

I have the wat-dat-do part of "It Don't Mean a Thing" going over and over and over and around in my head... and again.. lol it's good, but come on, brain.

Well, they most use BBBB on tutorial videos that are posted by younger people. Makeup and hair videos. There are plenty of music clips from movies, etc if I want to check them out. But please, post away.
Make a good, clear, "How to dress Vintage when you are old and not look like you got stuck in a time warp" video. THAT I would like to see. LOL
