This was a cool read, thanks for sharing!

My journey is a lot shorter and not well-documented as yours. I’ve only ever owned 6 leather jackets, including sold one(s), and am pretty happy with what I currently have. I’m on a break from buying for a long while, especially after the tariffs. Certainly there are still things I want to try, but the experience is not necessary. Enough is an internal feeling that I tell myself, as I am the boss, not some yearning of incompleteness.

Glad you enjoyed it! It's been a wild ride and I sincerely hope that my journey slows down in the future or even comes to a halt.

Love this Quote “ Enough is an internal feeling that I tell myself, as I am the boss, not some yearning of incompleteness.

Thanks! It was a stunning jacket, but not something I'm comfortable wearing. I'm glad/thankful for having handled it, but no more natural/light jackets for me - not my thing.

First Vanson. And nothing less than the legendary chopper model. Holy **** what a jacket. Size "S", way too big for me, but I was SHOCKED by it no less than I was by the Aero Dustbowl.
A life-long love for Vanson was ignited. Look at that back design.. Gorgeous! But the whole bottom section is way too extreme for casual use. I'd love to order a custom Vanson with a clean bottom section someday. Keep the design, but get rid of the buckles and stiffener/extra layers.

Grail denim jacket arrives - there is nothing in the world that can top this for me and it closed the doors for any thoughts of buying any other denim jacket in the future. Pure perfection. Not actually denim by the way, but denim dyed canvas.

Aero Hooch Hauler arrives - not much to say here, keeping this one until the end of my days hopefully, very happy with it, I've talked about it and share photos of it many times. End-game reached.

Vanson B in midweight Z150 cowhide.
A bit too long for me to keep it, otherwise the fit was FANTASTIC, very flattering!
And the nickel hardware and plain leather did not inspire me either.
Overall instantly became one of my favorite Vanson models.

Another Vanson B comes, inspired by the first one.
By far the most beautiful comp weight and black leather in general that I have seen or felt to this day.
Also the most beautiful zipper that I've see to this day.
Sent it to PL to widen the sleeves as they were way too tight.
But unfortunately the chest was too tight in the end (not pit to pit!) and there was some weird bulging in the mid section because of the way it molded to the previous owner.
Length was much better than the previous one.
I think this is the jacket that I regret selling the most.
Can't find any fit photos but here it is next to the previous one.

Probably a silly question: brand and type of the denim jacket? IH type 1? I must have skipped something or did not read carefully enough.

Waiting for some zippers to arrive from JP, then I can take my Octagon B for alterations. I'll share the jacket afterwards here as well. Some pre and post alteration pictures side by side hopefully.
But in the meantime I received a Vanson Raid in size 34. It is currently for sale in the classifieds.
Here are some fit pictures to document another Vanson passing by in my life.

The fit of your latest vanson seems good to me. I’m not convinced only for the big flap pocket on the right, and a little bulky on the black maybe (when open expecially).

Overall fit you pretty good to me. You are not convinced with the design?

I like the design, including the big pocket flap.
Based on the MW Windward, although the back is changed from a half-belt to a more Vanson style MOTO back (thankfully without the center seam).

I don't like the length and the front design prevents me from shortening it. Hopefully someone taller (or shorter legged lol) can enjoy this beauty.

Ok, i understand. Just see your post in classified.

If it was like 2cm shorter it would be almost perfect i think. Also for me ahah.

It would work for me if it was 4-5cm shorter :)
I'm chopping off at least 4 cm off the Octagon B too.
My longest jacket is 60cm (and i like it with that pattern)…for that reason i talk about 2cm. 4-5cm is a lot ahah, but every design is different so maybe 2cm less with that jacket is not enough.

The leather by the way seems good…it has that little shinyness that i like :)

The leather is fantastic yeah, definitely one of the better ones I've handled as far as CW goes.
The length and how it wears is definitely influenced by the pattern as well.
For example both my Aero Hooch Hauler and Rugged West RR3 are 59cm long, but the Rugged West wears much longer. And the Vanson pattern seems closer to the Rugged West than to the Aero in this regard, so I'm aiming for 58-59cm. For Aero 60cm is pretty ideal for me (my Aero CR is 60cm and fits perfectly in terms of length), for Vanson around 58cm is ideal I'd say. My Vanson E is ~62cm back, but it has a ~3cm back drop making the actual front around 59cm and it's also close to perfect.

One more for the archive : Simmons Bilt black horsehide crosszip, likely a heavily modified "Pacific" model.
Going to the classifieds soon - too wide in the waist and bottom hem for my taste and I don't like it enough to start altering it, hopefully someone else can enjoy it. Beautiful horsehide, definitely love the leather and lining. Minimalist cross zip with epaulettes.

You are unstoppable! Ahah

The fit is not bad (in the chest, shoulder and sleeves is awesome to me)…But I agree that it’s too wide under the chest.

The leather also seems pretty good
