Talk about family likeness

I often wonder who I look like in my family.
Not really my mother or my father - but I found this picture of my grandfather on my mothers site.
The likeness is stunning, I think.

When he was 40 years old.

Me - at the same age.

I even have a picture of him when he was 65 - just like me today.

Who do you look like in your family?

You do look a lot like your grandfather Søren, quite uncanny!

I am often told that I look just like one of my great-uncles on my mother's side but with blond hair.

I'll dig out a photo some time, they're packed away in some box or other somewhere!

I look a lot like my brother; we both have rather angular faces...Not like my dad, who has rather a square face. We look like one of our uncles, I reckon. He has a rather angular face, like we do.

I don't have any photos available, but I'm told I am almost a clone of my grandfather. Not just in looks, but in tastes as well. Apparently I even have similar tastes food-wise.

Unfortunately, I never really got a chance to meet him. He passed away when I was 4 or 5.

My maternal grandfather and I share alot. Same eyes, same nose. Mostly same tastes. You can't bribe us with money but show us a blackberry pie or some good clam chowder... I also aspire to be an airline pilot, which was what my gradfather was.... we dont have many pictures of him when he was my age, so guess I'll have to wait till I'm 30ish before I can get a good comparison...[huh]

I don't have any photos to hand, but....

There is (at my parents for safekeeping) a small keepsake square box thing.... hard to describe, I think it was intended to hold stamps originally. Looks like a tiny little cigarette case, certainly pre-Great War in manufacture. My great grandfather carried it in his pocket always until he died in 1986, at the age of 97 (born 1889). In it he carried two photos, portrait shots. One of himself and one of my great grandmother (who died several months before I was born) taken when they were, respectively, 21 and 17.... must have been 1910. In that photo, Great Granda MxCaw is the spitting image of my early 20s self.

Nowadays, I aspire to dress like Granda Marlowe did back in the thirties.... Must get some of those photos online. Not sure I look like him much, but I like to think I've inherited his eye for clothing, if only I can hone it! lol

My brother and I, like my mother, are both very dark eyed - a shade of brown which can look almost black in low light. We take after my mother in that respect. Little brother also goes brown as a berry after ten minutes in the Sun (I'm much more Celtic when it comes to that...). My maternal grandmother had a Spanish grandmother, which is apparently where these come from....

My grandfather was very dark-skinned and had a Roman nose, but had blue eyes and a German surname that signified some kind of shipwright. To me, he looked Afgan. [huh]
