Aw, those are so pretty.
I have a few sweater clips I've inherited and a few I picked up at garage sales. I have a couple repeats I should sell.
Once my new computer (from work) is set up I'll post photos of all my vintage whatnot. I'm not willing to part with much of it.

I have some, and so does Lady Day.

I haven't set out to collect them, but I think 5 pair or so fell into my lap in the last year.

Are you going to show us your pretties? :)

Do they guard sweaters in Arkansas?

:cool2: Those must be some swell sweaters!

Why would one need guards for sweaters?[huh]

Wouldn't a collection of guards be awfully expensive to feed and board? [huh]

Inquiring minds want to know. [huh] ;) :)

How to wear Sweater Clip Guards and Pins? The idea for the sweater clip was to hold a sweater in place when worn loose on the shoulders. These were very popular in the 1950s. You clip the sweater clips to each side of the collar or just below. They are very attractive and come in many designs and lengths. If you need a longer or shorter sweater clip just let me know and I can modify one for you.

Happy now sir?

Here's a couple I bought a few months ago. I wear a cardigan or sweater set to work almost every day and I have probably about 10 sweater clips/guards now to mix and match.

Maybe you ladies can help with this....

I'm looking for sweater "clasps"? but not the kind with the chain like a guard but more like the ones that look like matching brooches and hook together like on the bottom of the fur trimmed cardigans. I have no idea what to call them??? Any ideas?[huh]

Oh right! Like the ones on the stretch belts. Thanks :)

I've gotta believe that someone, somewhere was smart enough to rename belt clips for sweaters and charge double the price during the Golden Era. But I don't remember finding that item.

The brown sweater with the fur collar is gorgeous. not sure who is the happy owner.. but I'm jealous : )

Thank you! That's actually a yellow sweater before I got it cleaned. :eusa_doh:

My mother in law gave it to me as a gift from her wardrobe. Lucky me!

I have my mothers sweater clip. It's gold and the ends look like leaves.
She wore it with a pink angora cardigan.

Foofoogal - Yippee - those are really cool. I especially like the ones in the last photo. Lately this has been my new thing to look for at the antique shops. THey seem reasonably priced and would come in handy.
