Every year I go through the same ordeal before the summer. Where do I get the perfect pair of summer pants. My BR khakis and Pike Brothers Work pants are just too heavy and once the higher temperatures hit, I just roast in them. I just can't find a pair or two pf lightweight summer chinos, high waist, loose fit, something one can wear to work. Few years ago I got some great baggy Abercrombie lightweight summer baggy chinos but I am now three sizes slimmer in the waist so that's a no go. Do any of you have a recommendation for that perfect pair of summer pants ? Thanks for your help folks!

Do they have to be chinos? I just bought RL trousers on ebay. One pair is lightweight seersucker cotton and the other a cotton /linen mix. Both are perfect for summer. The Abercrombie and Fitch chinos would be my next guess. I got a nice high waisted pair als from ebay. Of course not all of them are vintage looking and high waisted, you have to search for a while. Maybe they were from a few years back I guess.

I am a big fan of the J.Crew Lightweight chino. It is 100% cotton and has a poplin feel. I am wearing a pair now and they feel light and great.

Also, they come in several fits (from relax to very slim) - I go for a not-baggy, but not slim look (which is, on my 6'1" 150lb frame, the "Urban Slim" fit, which is really not so much slim but not baggy - at least on me). Also, they come in several colors (the Khaki is a perfect summer color IMHO).

They are reasonably priced at $75, but with a little patience, you can wait and they will go on sale for 25% off regularly. For the money, they are well made, but not as well made as the $100+ brands, but again, very good value for the price.

Hope this helps.

Thanks everybody for your tips. No they don't need to be chinos at all but everything I checked out is a bit too modern, slim fit, low waist and not really a vintage 40's or 50's fit. I think finding something reasonably priced by RRL on ebay is my best bet....

You could try Luxire. Your best bet would be to send them a moth eaten vintage copy to make sure they get the details right. They have lots of linens and even Fresco.

Old Town offer most of their trousers in linen.

Thanks, that looks good, I will copy my Buzz Rickson's chinos in lightweight summer twill:)

I ordered my second pair of Bills Khakis. The chamois which is summer weight. High waisted vintage look. About $33 plus $8 shipping from Sierra Trading Post.
Got my first pair from them a week ago and was super pleased! Having them hemmed at the moment. They come unhemmed at 37 inches. Best buy!!
