Suggestion re: jacket identification threads

The outerwear section is being spammed by freshly registered accounts to identify jackets, most of them presumably with commercial intent. I would like to propose to either ban them and remove said threads due to their commercial nature or form a super thread a like how does it fit and what are you wearing today and move all threads being made into that..

This forum suffered badly from the bugs and downtimes, it should not suffer further from this flood of people turning it into a pre-sale information gathering portal.. it is frankly annoying if interesting threads and discussions are pushed on page 5 for a flood of non-comtributing, self-serving trash threads.

While I agree with you on the trash thread comment, I don't want to spend a portion of my time having to merge newby threads into a newly created "super thread" to identify jackets. It is just too time consuming.

If members will not comment on those type of threads, they will fall off the first page and fade into oblivion.

Quite frankly the super "Fit Thread" is of really no use. Nothing in there is of historical significance. And there is really no reason to group all of the "How Does This Jacket Fit?" questions into one thread, other than it can be done. And it takes my time for no real purpose.

It WOULD have historical significance if people would clearly state the maker, model and size of the jacket in their post - then it is at least searchable and useful to see how various jackets fit in real life.

Mod time is valuable time. What happens to such threads kinda depends on the process/effort used in either moving them or deleting them.

It's too much to ask original posters to post pertinent details (they may be unaware of same) and also too much to ask other posters to refrain from posting answers/comments.

I'm not sure the human body is sufficiently uniform, even given commonality of sizing, for that tbh. I mean, look at the debate that flared a while back with some posters insisting a particular maker's patterns were unwearable, while many of us find they suit us better than anything else out there. There's an instinct in many of us hobbyists that does look for uniformity and definable, objective information like this, but I'm not convinced it's really something that is possible to the sort of meaningful degree that a detailed database would require to be of any real value.
