Suede trucker - can you suggest an alternative?

Funny about the other trucker thread, I guess they are getting popular again.

Anyway, I have two Aero FQHHs that are perfect and take me through the colder weather - and that I will take to the grave (though the Stockman is getting a bit heavy on my aging shoulders if I wear it for hours at a time, but I digress) - and I am seeking more reasonably priced alternatives to the two listed below.

The lighter one "("WP Standard", whoever they are) is pretty much what I'm looking for, but the darker brown Reiss might make more sense as suede absorbs stains and dirt like a sponge, so a darker brown might be more sensible for the long haul.

That said, $500 and up is well above my roughly $200-$250 price point for such a jacket, which I'm seeking for the warmer months as a thrown-on that won't feel too heavy. They'll bury me in my Highwayman, but unlike Jessica Jones I am not wearing a wool-lined 4 oz FQHH in 60 degree + weather. A lightweight suede trucker would be just right.

I’ve been looking at these two. I just bought a dark brown one on ebay from Pakistan for $105 including shipping. Seemed like decent quality for the price but the lining was quilted so a little warmer than I need.

Suede is one of those things I'd be wary about buying cheap; imo, an even bigger danger of watermarking and dye run than cheap leather.

That said, if you want new and can't stretch to the Aero, Wested aren't a bad budget item, and I've never heard anyone have a problem with their quality, as long as you don't expect Aero for less than Aero cost. I've never handled Wested's suede, but their customer serviced is excellent, and I'll certainly buy from them again.

Those jackets are ten years old? I wonder what condition the suede is in at this point, the page does mention some soiling but that would be a concern.

Doesn't matter for me, I am a 40-42 regular.

I will second wested. I have two Indy jackets both over a decade old and still going strong. They know how to make a jacket.

UPDATE:

Ok, so I went through the suggestions and links here, checked them over and strongly considered Wested, who I knew well from my Indy jacket days and their reputation is very good - they are known for making great jackets at reasonable prices. However, I opted not to go in that direction because of the shipping/return costs I'd face if there were a size or other issue.

As such, I went to the Reiss store and confirmed I liked the color, fit, style, etc., but did not want to pay $660. I learned they are also sold at a local department store, so I went there to see if there was a sale, and the salesman said if I applied for and got a store credit card - I'd get 20% off.

I thought to myself, "life is too short to stress over this stuff the way I used to;" as there was a time when I'd spend hours analyzing pictures, styles, fret over the way the panels on the jacket were shaped, stitching, if the item was made in the far east, hand-made in US or the UK, etc. I'm at a point in my life now where having gone through a lot of personal issues with job, health, etc., I just don't feel the need to worry about this kind of thing any more, so with the 20% off that was that.

The WP Standard looked closer colorwise to what I'd been focusing on, but I realized that the aggravation of wearing a light-colored suede jacket might not be the smartest idea for me as I have a habit of walking into things, etc. I don't want to wear museum pieces any more and that's one of the reasons I love my FQHH Aero jackets so much, they are very tough and if you bang your arm, bump into something, touch something sharp/dirty, you don't automatically have to worry and have that feeling in your stomach your beloved jacket just got damaged. The darker brown of the Reiss seemed to make more sense, and my 25 year old nephew and his much more current fashion sense confirmed that Reiss is well respected for making quality merchandise.

Moral of the story I realized: focus on what's important in life. While we are all jacket nuts here - otherwise you wouldn't be here as you'd be on a hockey or knitting forum if that was your thing - don't sweat this stuff. If you find something you like, you think looks good on you, and it isn't crazy expensive that will have you eating mayonnaise sandwiches for months, just get it.

That said, naturally the temps will be almost 90 where I live for the next few days; so in the closet it goes, can't even wear it for at least a week LOL.
