Stetson Vintage Car Collection Fedoras

Peter Brothers lists a showroom of styles like DeSoto and Packard, the likes of which I had never heard of or seen before. All Stetsons. Any Loungers familiar with these new/old Detroit Big 3 models?

The DeSoto looks like a Stetson Temple.

It is . The Temple is a dimensional brim at 2 3/8" by 2 5/8" The Desoto is around 2 1/2" even . A nice hat but not needed as the Temple is just about the same in looks.

Faux-nostalgia. That is the "Vintage" collection so they give them vintage names. If you know what a Packard is it you might show interest in a hat named after the Packard. Or, maybe not. In any case, Stetson has a long tradition of naming hats after other things.

Interesting that all the hats in the "Vintage" collection could be made with the same body. Cut the brim, bash it and add the trimmings and you have any one of six different hats.

No matter the names, I think I like them.

I've considered bestowing the names of old planes, trains and automobiles upon my hats, for much the same reasons (I suppose) Stetson uses those old car names for its "Vintage Collection." I've also considered place names -- iconic towns and rivers and mountain ranges and such. It's to evoke an image, to associate the product with something of another time and/or place. For an item such as a proper men's hat, it seems a natural fit, for reasons almost too obvious to mention. I'm not all that taken with the names Stetson chose for its line, but I take no exception with the concept.

One other distinction- the DeSoto comes in Graphite. I like the Stetson Sutley in Graphite quite a bit but prefer the wider ribbon of the Temple. This has both. Bingo.
