The recent acquisitions are the Dobbs Twenty, the Cavanagh, the Knox Premier, the Stetson Whippet and Marc's ABD. The others are older purchases. I also have just recieved a Dobbs Fifteen, two Borsalinos,a Hess a GH and four others that I have not shown yet. I have been collecting hats for my entire life. I just wish that I knew I was collecting when I was younger,I would have taken better care back then.
Cruiser that is an older tie. I will see if there is still a label on the back. I like the older ones best because they are not heavy.
That's a mighty good-looking hat. I was wondering if you could interpret some of the tag for me. Up top it says something like "silver belly deluxe", but down lower it says "light tan". I always thought silver belly was a color, but it seems to me that the color of your hat is more like the light tan.
Also, there's $15.95 near the light tan. I assume that is the original price for the hat, but perhaps it was an upgrade from silver belly to the light tan color?
That is the reciept that came with the hat. I am a bit suspicous about it's authenticity. Some of it is writen in ink and some in pencil so I don't know for sure. Perhaps the light tan refers to the ribbon color? Also when I bought the hat the desciption said it was from 1934 and there is that number writen on the back of the size tag but again I don't know if I believe that. It does have the serial numbers so I suppose it could be dated that way.
