Stetson Globester - anyone have or seen one?

carldelo, I ordered the Globester from the Stetson Outlet Store in Garland Texas I have seen mentioned here numerous times. The individual who selected the hat for me from their stock said he believed it was marked as a saleman's version of the hat and not a manufacture defect or other quality issue.[huh]

I am looking forward to it's arrival. Hopefully those Custom's broker folks won't snag it at the border and delay the arrival.

Well my new Globester arrived safe and sound last Friday. I am quite pleased with it. My first bound edge, thin ribbon hat. It is very soft and light and not stiff at all. The felt reminds me of Akubra Casual only it has a softer, smoother finish. It really feels like it would be packable though Stetson does not market it tha way. It has a lining, but the sweat band is material. The crown is lower than the Casual.

I don't think it would be my first pick for wearing in a downpour, but thank heavens I have a Banjo Paterson or a Stockman to slip on if it looks like the heavans are going to burst.


The Globester performed well for a brisk walk in the the dog park on a chilly fall day.

Looking good Duper, the Globester does not appear to be too tapered or short-crowned. I could never wear a Camp Draft with its wide brim and untapered crown, but this one looks good. I wish it came in some other colors, though. What is the sweatband material? Ditto your thoughts on felt - I've found my Stetsons to have much nicer felt than Akubra. Too bad Stetson won't upgrade their sweatbands to Akubra quality. I'll post the Brewster when it arrives, I know the shape is good, very curious about the silk-finish and grosgrain sweatband.....

carldelo, I think the band is what they would refer too as grosgrain. It is comfortable enough and again it makes me think of a crushable hat, with the cloth band and ultralite felt.
