As far as a negative review about this hat, is that really a surprise? You can't go more than four posts without reading something negative about modern production hats.

Haha, if it were not for modern production hats I would not have a hat for my size 7 5/8 head!lol :D

The Gaylord was discontinued. It was a nice hat for the money. I believe they were made from millenery bodies that were a little softer than a typical hat. The loden green that Aaron is wearing in his post was the best seller for us. Unfortunately, they stopped making the hat If any loungers are near Dallas, stop into the factory outlet in Garland. They might have them in there.

Good Suggestion

I picked one up in St. Joeseph Outlet several years ago for about 30.00 I believe. It was Tobacco Brown (?) and I found it to be very comfortable and well worth my investment. The brim's a little narrow for my taste but none the less I'm not sorry to own it and I had forgotten about the name long ago.

Nice looking hat anyway..but I personally would be skeptical of the "sueded" finish... It looks great in the ad but buying it blindly based on the ad alone is taking a bigger chance than usual.....

I believe it was only available for one year and has since been discontinued. Aaron

You gotta wonder why that is. You'd think they'd continue the model if it sold well enough, so maybe it didn't.
Are my tastes really that unusual?

But they did well for Bencraft. It's got me scratching my noggin.

I have a couple of "sueded" hats and like 'em both. And a velour finished felt I recently acquired is pretty nice, too. Indeed, the Gaylord's felt texture is among the things that attracted me to it.

I have a "Dr. Knox", which is also HATCO's Sueded finish (AKA Stetson "Dexter). It is a fantastic felt. You can't describe the feel. You have to touch it. Looks great, too. Pictures don't do it justice. The only drawback is one common to another line of hats manufactured in Australia (Won't mention any names.), slight shrinkage (a fraction of a size). I haven't experienced this with any of the other current HATCO models I have (standard fur felt).

In spite of that, I still love it!

Did anyone who ordered a Gaylord get theirs? If so, what do you think of it?
I got this one in loden green earlier this year. It's about what I expected for the price. I like it.

I have a Dr. Knox as well. It's a very nice hat. I also have a Knox Player that I really like. It looks like it should have been worn in Road to Perdition or Miller's Crosssing.

I think it looks great. Have you been rained on?
I don't think it's been in the rain, if it was it only got sprinkled on while I was going to the truck or car. I only have two Stetsons that have really been soaked. It didn't hurt them, but I don't know what it would do to this one.
