It arrived from Ebay. It looks great. Hard to photograph the nice patina. But here it is. It looks just like the others except for the fact that it has the word "sterling" in the back. It might be from the 40s according to some debate we had in the ebay thread and some ads that Rusty found.
Only bidder $20 :)

No Strat hat for me (too thin a ribbon for my taste) so off it flew to my VS

Its great to see an orginal pin. Looks good on the VS but I bet you end up get a Strat to put it on. In the back of your mind you are already thinking it.:eusa_clap :D

The idea has crossed my mind quite a few times in the past couple of days... The future shall tell.

I love how it looks against the great colors of the VS (damn, that's a nice hat), but agree that it belongs with a Strat.

Aureliano, you look great in every hat picture you've posted. Not sure why you have an aversion to thin ribbons, but I think you would do justice to these as well. In the meantime, it's a lovely pin.

Thank you, Alan you're much too kind. I owned a Borsalino Alessandria a long time ago. I never liked how it looked on me. But then again, at that time I didn't know how to crease hats, lower crowns; etc. I also don't know if the proportions of a Stratoliner are similar to the Alessandria. I'm intrigued now, I must confess. I'm going to tour some vintae shops here in NY and see if I cand find one to try on...

Lefty, thanks for your comment, too. Art did good on this hat. Very very goooood!

I say keep this pin on your VS, and find another one for a Strat. It looks too good set off against the beautiful ribbon and felt to remove!

Well, he could get one of Fred H's repro's for the VS, and put the original with the Strat. Just sayin'...

Aureliano, the Strat is narrower in brim than the typical Open Road (which I think is quite similar to the Allesandria?). I also think you'd do great with one. If the shops don't have one, just keep looking. They come up fairly frequently. If you decide it's not for you, as long as you don't go crazy buying it, you should be able to sell it without loss.

Come on. Ya can't have the primo Strato pin and no Strato to put her on! It's a hat crime, I tells ya.

If a nice gray one, reasonably priced comes up, I'll give it a shot, how's that? I'm not buying more hats, remember guys! lol lol lol. This one, though, might be worth the relapse.
I also own a strato box in pretty darn good shape! look:
