There appear to be major wildfires in the Spokane valley area currently.

I indeed hope all are safe or able to be evacuated to safety. I suspect some of our favorite boot makers may be affected, but it may be too early to tell how much, or if their facilities have been damaged, let along employee's homes, etc. This is a terrible situation for those in the Eastern part of Washington; they will be in my thoughts & prayers.

Nicks' owner has posted on Reddit about it, pasting it below:

Hey all,
I'm sure some of you have seen the news about the fires that have collectively become known as the Spokane Complex Fire. When your city has a complex fire named after you, that is sobering.

  • We are working with our teammates to understand their situations. Some have been evacuated, though I am not yet aware of any homes being lost by Nicks team members. Our thoughts go out to anyone who has experienced the loss of their homes, including friends and neighbors of myself and other Nicks employees.
  • If you want to help, please order as you normally would. This is an important time of year for us with the Dome promotions and I do not believe that this will meaningfully affect any timelines.
  • With those evacuations, please expect some disruptions in customer service as I expect a lighter crew than normal early this coming week.
  • Power lines from Grand Coulee are the primary power source for the city and surrounding areas and come down from the northwest. They have been threatened by these fires and we have seen some power disruptions. As of now, Nicks has full power and never lost power. I have circled Nicks' location by the 'S' in Spokane Valley. We will continue to operate.
  • The Fairview and Old Trails fire are holding. The Autumn Lane fire is currently the most dangerous although we did recently get some good news that the dozer lines are having a positive effect.
  • We deeply appreciate the efforts of our firefighters and other first-responders. You are why we exist as a business, in multiple ways.
  • We are taking stock and will identify ways we can help our teammates, community and first-responders. We are so grateful for everyone who has reached out.
Thank you again to all of you who have reached out to me and others. We are operational and, again, the most helpful thing you can do is continue to patronize us (in a good way ❤️ ) as you would normally.
Much love,
Shuyler & the Nicks Crew

Wow, that's terrible. Thanks for sharing, I had no idea that some of the PNW makers were being impacted like this. It really drives it home that this is a problem for everyone. Thoughts are with anybody affected by this.

It's great to see White's Nick's and Franks's all coming together to support the community in this very rough time:

Stronger Together: A Community Relief Initiative by Nicks Boots, White's Boots and Frank's Boots

In the wake of the devastating Spokane Complex Fire, three of Spokane's bootmakers are setting competition aside to support the community we both call home. Nicks Boots, White's Boots and Frank's Boots are joining forces for "Stronger Together," a limited-time fundraising campaign benefiting H.O.M.E. and the families and individuals impacted by the Spokane Complex Fire. 100% of profits from every shirt sold will be donated to H.O.M.E. Every purchase of the limited-edition Nicks × White's x Frank's Stronger Together T-Shirt earns one entry for a chance to win a custom pair of boots from Nicks and White's, or a standard pair from Frank's. A total of 15 winners will be selected. This initiative is about more than boots. It's about neighbors helping neighbors, local businesses stepping up, and showing what Spokane looks like when we come together.
