Songs That Mention Hats

"Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)" was originally recorded by Marvin G a y e and released in 1963 on his album That Stubborn Kinda Fellow. It was written by Barret Strong , Marvin G a y e and Norman Whitfield.

By the look in your eye I can tell you're gonna cry, is it over me?
If it is, save your tears for I'm not worth it, you see.
For I'm the kind of guy who is always on the roam,
Wherever I Lay My Hat That's My Home.
You had a romance, did you break it by chance over me?
If it's so I'd like for you to know that I'm not worth it, you see.
For I'm the type of guy who is always on the roam,
Wherever I Lay My Hat That's My Home

Yep, but meets thread requirements.

You're right, it certainly does.

I guess I just kind of find it sad because I'm a musician and make my living playing music made by real human beings for other human beings. I know that pop music (I'd include country in that) is formulaic enough that AI is quite good at faking something a real human might have written, and can generate all the bits of the song... The instruments, the vocals, the lyrics and so forth.

But it's not real, ya know? And at least to me, it often sounds "off" for lack of a better description. It's just a program that plugged in some things and the person that prompted thought that's good enough, and put it out there. It doesn't come from any lived experience, or feeling, or come about as the result of humans who put hours of their lives into learning how to play their instruments or sing or write music. And I don't think we (like society, not just this forum) should support it.

Also if this is fair game, why not post AI generated images of hats in other threads as long as they technically meet the requirements? I guess I just feel like this is a place, even if it is online and we've never met, for real people to talk to each other about real things. In our particular section of this forum, that relates to hats, and we love them because of the history they have, that they were designed and crafted by humans and then were owned and worn by other humans. It's why we like trying to find out anything about who owned a hat before we acquired it, or learn about the store in which it was sold, etc.

Anyway that's just my $0.02.

Edit: just wanted to add I'm not offended and think you need to take it down, more disappointed. I just wanted to explain why I called attention to it and to share my perspective as a musician.
