I'm not really into either, or even basketball in general, but Sister Jean's got this!

Isn't she sweet, an angel. I've caught few Loyola or DePaul games this past season, and none of Notre Dame.
Mostly Illini on WLS. Catch-as-catch-can, but after last year, Madness isn't so maddening.

I always asked myself, why cassettes sound so much better than CD. So much richer! Not in the sense of LP, but very rich! Must be the direct sampling.

Equally, if an Bee Gees MC from late 70s or an Kuschelrock MC from late 80s or an Alan Parsons MC form the 90s. Always sounding fantastic!
Listen to Danny Wilson's Mary's Prayer from MC!! Or Bee Gees "Nights on Broadway".

When they put you on on hold, they should change the recorded message to “if your call was important to us we would have answered it a long time ago”.
Speaking of being dismissive, for those who don't know "Best Buy" is a chain of retail electronics stores in North America. It became necessary for me to call one of their local stores today, and the automated outgoing message stated, "We're sorry, but this specific location is not taking phone calls at this time." o_O A retail sales business isn't taking calls during normal business hours???

My health insurance company has been haranguing me about tele-health, and what a great thing it is for the patients, whose health is the company’s first and greatest priority.

I don’t doubt there’s lots to be said for tele-health, not the least of which is that it is less costly. So let’s be a bit more candid about the insurance company’s real interest in it.

Expected a more relaxed day, little intrusion, minimal telephone, nada email interrupts.
A bit of handicapping, coffee, music. So much for that, so a late night and perhaps tomorrow will prove more slack.

Woke up to 2-3 inches of snow. Blustery blowing snow throughout the day. Occasional white outs and intermittent clear periods. Hasn't gotten above freezing. Predicted to last until about 9pm. Tomorrow in the 40s (F).

And here I was going to mow the lawn for the first time tomorrow. I should do it anyway. That'll show Mother Nature!

Simple question:

Has anyone of you experience with correcting the nasal septum? I don't need it acute, but it's an interesting thing for me.
Not-so-simple answer: Yes, I've had that procedure performed on me, but...well, read on for the explanation.

When I was six years old my best friend broke my nose with an unripened rock-hard avocado. This happened on the morning of my older sister's first wedding so there was no trip to the doctor for proper medical attention even though my shirt was soaked with blood. Nope; stop the bleeding, change my shirt, and send me back out to play.

Fast forward to my early-20s, and I could barely breathe through my nose; sometimes not at all. Diagnosed as a deviated septum, surgery was scheduled. During the post-procedure appointment to remove the bandages my doctor told me he had to do far more work than expected to open my nasal passages because the bones in my sinuses "looked like a roller coaster" and he was surprised I could ever breathe through my nose. So the doctor considered the surgery a success because he was able to open my sinuses, but I regularly have trouble breathing to this day and occasionally use nasal spray.

That being said, I've spoken with quite a few people who have had surgery to correct their deviated septums. Their experiences were very different because they had no broken noses to correct as well, just the septum surgery. Apparently it would be common for you to experience a headache for at least a day or two after the surgery because your septum and sinus passages will be swollen and packed with gauze. Also, no strenuous activities that could raise your blood pressure and cause the affected sinus tissues to start bleeding. Assuming no complications, any breathing issues you might have should be corrected. My discomfort was rather minor after that first day and disappeared completely the moment the doctor removed the bandages.

Oh, wait. Did I mention that the day after the surgery my wife managed to drop our 20-pound cat on my nose? Yep...story for another time, perhaps.
