Repeating much of the above.
For me, if I am not happy with the fit, I will inevitably let it go, as many here will attest ;)
I have also become very pedantic on my fit requirements. Life's too short to not enjoy what you wear, or suffer nagging doubts about sleeve length every time to wear a jacket, especially if its cost you dearly.
If its something special, and not readily replaceable... but its not a perfect fit, then as some here have said, may be worth keeping and enjoying it, with its imperfections.
For example, if I bought a new jacket and its was not 100%, I may very well pass it on and try get another with a better fit (this would not apply to a Goodwear though, with a 2 year plus wait)...
If it was a cheaper jacket, like my AVIs, that didn't cost me an arm or leg and only come in std sizes, then I may keep them as 'beaters'... Or jackets to experiment with.
If it was secondhand jacket I picked up, that did not fit 100% but is a one-of-a-kind... And something I really liked, I'd keep it.

@Sloan1874 I am hoping that you'll bring your camera and share some of the finer details of the sale with those of us not attending?
Also..If you aren't a daily checker of the Aero sales pages like I am there has been a nice influx of jackets posted lately in all sizes as well as a slight reorganization in how the items are displayed.. they're now displayed by jacket size which I find quite helpful...( potentially costly)

I'll endeavor to take a few pics! My shift patterns are such that I won't be there when the doors open - despite my relative proximity, it's still a couple hours from Glasgow to Gala, so even if I leave 9-ish, it's an 11am arrival and I suspect those ahead of me will be like locusts in heavy leather...

I've had goatskin jacket that was significantly heavier than a Vicenza jacket I also had. From what I've seen, the recent batches of Vicenza are heavier than what I had though. So perhaps a tricky one to answer as goatskin weight can vary.

Depends. I recently acquired a vintage Swedish goatskin jacket that is as thick as cxl hh. And you also have batch variance with Vicenza. But my aero goat jacket is about the same thickness as ,y Vicenza jackets, in my estimate. The difference being of course that goat is a lot less stiff.

I’ve been toying with the idea of asking Alan to move the otherwise useless belt/buckles on my PHWM up 5” to the traditional HB position. Is this a bad idea? I can’t convince myself either way. I’ve mocked it up with some clips. I think doing this would allow me to pull in the torso just enough. Bad idea/terrible idea?
Has anyone ever tried this?

I wouldn't do it unless it made a jacket that you find unwearable wearable.
Do you have fit pics?

Yeah it’s certainly not that big a deal. I just think it might take some of the tubularity out of the torso. But it is a small thing. Not a deal breaker.

I think you are trying to make it what it is not...
To me this jacket falls like a Lewis Leathers Dominator, in a smooth V shape going from shoulders to waist.
Giving it a half belt break in the middle will kill the lines.

I think it fits great as it is and i would let it be what it currently is.
If you want a halfbelt get a halfbelt.

You’re probably right. I don’t need another half belt. But yeah that might end up souring the back panel. The HB (besides the actual belt) has a curved back panel where the HWM does not. Probably over thinking it.

A place to ask questions that aren't necessarily worthy of their own thread, or might potentially take a thread off topic.
What a sensible thread, but, would you allow me to drift off topic? You see, from your original post there's no mention that you, or we, are talking about leather jackets.

I have in my wardrobe, something that leather aficionados are ever unlikely to see, let alone buy, and that's a collection of summer blazers. What has summer blazers got to do with this thread? Well they are jackets. Remember the first question was: "Would you keep a jacket or two that didn’t fit 100% right if they were first rate jackets from a top manufacturer"

One of my blazers was an uncomfortable fit, but I still loved it. My missus, whose handy with a needle and thread, said the problem was that it has two left sleeves. The right hand sleeve does fit, but it has been contrived to fit, I should have sent it back, but do you know, I just love it.
