That's a good looking Bronco. I own a GW Bronco in this pattern and they are roomy in the lower torso. For some reason there is a misconception out there that this Bronco pattern/contract is very trim/slim fitting. It's really not. I like the pattern a lot. It's versatile, in my opinion, because you could begin wearing it when you're fit and slim...then, years later, when you've developed a gut, it will still fit. This is especially good if a jacket, such as a Good Wear A-2, is an investment for you.

By the way, I'm happy that there is a Pike Brothers thread going strong on here. Pike Bros specific review threads aren't common on the web, so whatever reason.

I have a Pike Bro. N1 but it's not the current version with inside pocket G1 style but with a standard patch pocket sewn on the wool lining.

I believe that the current version of the N1 has been altered, the amount/thickness of the wool padding bulk has been reduced bringing the jacket more in line with the original N1.

Regarding their B10, I think the "over engineered" statement relates to the bulk of the wool padding making it a lot thicker that the standard B10 would be so unless Pike Bros have changed the design of their B10 in line with their N1, I would probably ask them question to clarify.

@ Scott - just a quick question regarding your Pike N1, what type of internal pocket does yours have, G1 style or patch and how do you rate the thickness and bulk of the jacket compared to an original N1 (if you have owned or handled one that is).

Mine is the newer non-numered N-1 with S/M/L/XL sizing as opposed to the prior model which was proper 44/46/48 etc.
It is heavy and short(er) than I'd like - but I'm taller so that's life with off-the-shelf.

Mine has the G-1 style inner buttoned pocket. Of course, when I've handled original N-1 from the WWII era, they've been heavily worn and are thinner. I bought this as I love the style, but could not find a WWII jacket in my size after searching for about two years. I love it. Wore it back east last winter and it's up to the task of very cold weather for sure.

In a perfect world, it would be longer on me and the sleeves would also be longer. But for an off the shelf size XL, it's good (fit wise). As a jacket overall, I'd give it a B+

i got a pike brothers N1 in "L" which is a perfect fit for me as is my standard size

true as for the overall lenght is a thad on the short side

as for linner and outter fabric is almost similar with the original N1 in my collection

years back i had one of the very first production run B10's in my hands where the knitting was pretty weak - was one reason for me back than not to buy her but heard with the time even the B10 got better

I'm in no danger of buying a Pike Brothers Jacket since I am drowning in too many jackets already but wanted to say welcome back to Scott (Butte) from whom I have not heard in a month of Sundays!

Sleeves are loooooong, but I can get in em. Body's a leetle tight but if I wear it with just a dress shirt I'll be fine. NO room for a sweater. I'm still dropping the lbs.. albeit a lot slower than the past so I think I'll keep her and NOT size up. But I know that if I did I'd probably wear it more. I'll take some shots this weekend.

Yeah, they seem to have a sleeve length issue on their jackets that have knit cuffs. It seems as though they don't account for the length of the knits.
