I've already posted on TFL about Aero's AWESOME customer service, so I won't repeat myself.

SB doesn't have to find a cure for anything, no one is expecting them too. What I'm expecting them to do is offer some original products rather than....'clones', to put it as politely as I can, of products already on the market. After all, there are Japanese companies out there like Freewheelers making original jackets with a retro vibe. Why can't SB?

As for the outfit making jackets in Pakistan offering a replacement jacket at zero cost in addition to keeping the one they already sent out, that's right up there with the best in terms of customer service. Well done them for offering.

@ViceRoyal, could you unpack that for me a little please?
Which part of Sloans post do you think is boring? Is the part about Americans bagging all the best offerings in the Aero sale, or is it the part about SB's customer service?
You quoted all of it, so I'm not sure which part you're referring too.
Apologies for asking.

No, we don't. Really, posting a thread to congratulate SB on being able to send a couple of zip pulls is pretty small beer by anybody's standards. Here's a topic: what examples do Loungers have of makers really going above and beyond when it comes to customer service?

Well... this is a good one, but in my case and I believe that most of us here were simply never in a position that needs the maker to go above and beyond. With most of my jackets, I have received excellent service in the sense that I got often products that exceeded my expectations while having a good customer experience.

If I were to point at bad customer service, I can only think of Goodwear for all the reasons stated in the dedicated thread.

Edit: bad sentence structure fixed

Interesting that Aero contacted members of the board when it saw a problem posted on this board. That didn't happen to me.

A while back I posted some pics of an Aero main zipper that had failed on my Thunder Bay after only a year or so, asking for suggestions. @Worf correctly diagnosed the problem as an incorrectly installed zipper. He and others suggested I contact Aero to see if it would install a new zipper, as it was obviously an installation problem. I didn't do so as I didn't want to get into an argument with them as to why the zip failed. Nor did I want another size 6 zipper on a heavy jacket that needed a heavy duty zipper. I just bit the bullet and paid the $200+ it cost to have the zip replaced with a #10 in this country. The new zipper was correctly installed and has performed flawlessly.

I wasn't contacted by Aero offering a replacement installation, nor was I expecting to be contacted.

While that experience sorta soured me on Aero jackets, and I won't buy another one from them as I don't want to take a chance on another failed zipper, I certainly won't buy one from Simmons either, for an entirely different reason (see posts by @Sloan1874).

@Peacoat, you can decide for yourself how you feel about this;
When I was ragging on Aero about their magazine on TFL, Ken sent a mail to me to explain things. No problem with that, but...
He contacted me at my private mail I use when I order from Aero, not the mail address I registered with TFL, and since my real name isn't Big J, I guess that this means that Aero pays very close attention to who posts what, and makes the effort to match that to which customer ordered what, and then keeps that information.
That might sound a bit creepy to some, but given what Aero's been through over the last couple of years, what with facing a concerted well funded deliberate effort to put them out of business, I can't say that I blame them for making sure that they aren't getting slammed by fake customers on the internet.
When you take into account the theft of patterns, poaching of staff etc by rivals, Aero has been the target of quite a dirty tricks campaign.

Here we go with this as always. Honestly at this point, it’s just boring.
A suggestion from an old member and moderator to a new guy. Get a lay of the land before you jump in with comments like this. With all of 5 posts under your belt you don't know the membership or the situations which have occurred here. Take some time to fit in.

Some forget the foundations on which Alexander Leathers/Simmon Bilts were built on. Just because of that one shouldn't take them seriously or even consider them. Specially in such a niche world like this one.

Meanwhile Aero is attending amongst other occidental leather jacket makers like Himel events like the CC Show in Japan and are being successful worldwide withing the stores and people that really matter.

That will never happen to SB to the same degree because they can't erase their past and to most people as a customer or store that matters more than a good leather jacket.

No one is claiming they don't do good products or that they have a terrible customer service. That's the least they could do after all they did.

Some of you don't like to be told and be reminded of it but that's the reality and it won't go away. They built their company by stealing.
