Anyone come across SILTON jackets of California before. I just picked this one up at a thrift store. It was in fantastic conditon and my size And most important "cheap". Leather feels like either lamb or fine calf skin. The workmanship is great, even the cuff buttons really do button. The pockets were unusal and even though it's not they type of jacket I'd usually buy, it was too good to pass up. Any info about it would be appreciated. I'm thinking it's early 60s, but I'm not positive.

You may be right. Funny, I was in my 20s during the 70s and I can't recall all the styles then. But I do remember that it seemed that quite a number of 70s jackets looked like this. Bullkier and longer, with the big side pockets and often belted, I had one that looked similar to these two examples. So it could be the Silton was in that transitional stage. I am impressed with the quality of the leather and the workmanship on the Silton.

Registered trade mark was 1978, I own one myself, it wasn't to my liking so I've had the collars altered, the quality was to good to have just hanging in the wardrobe.

Looking at that jacket, I can't help feeling that that's the one Gustin would have made if they'd been a bit more gutsy. I'd have bought it on the spot.
