Guys,

Some nice waistcoats on this thread!

Here is a copy I had done up of the waistcoat on my 1954 Austin Reed three piece. Its made out of buff doeskin for a country odd waistcoat for tweeds and flannells:

Are there any beautiful waistcoats like that or vests that would fit a big man like myself? If so, where would I find something like that? I'd like something to wear with slacks.

Best,
Jerry

@chassuer

What a beautiful suitcoat and hat! Where can I find a bubba sized suit like that? Better yet where can I find a fedora like yours for winter?

Very nice giftmacher! Congrats

Here's one I picked up from the thrift store for something like 5.99. There's a bit of a funny story that goes with it now too.

It has a mystical, magical disappearing stain! I obviously checked it for stains before I bought it and saw none, but the other day whilst out with the family at Woodland Park Zoo, I was aghast to find a huge orangey stain right in the middle of the left breast area; it was in direct sunlight, so I figured that maybe it was some sort of stain that doesn't show under artificial light. There was nothing to do for it, so I just decided to ignore it and hope for the best. Later as I was standing in direct sunlight just before we left the zoo, I checked and the thing had vanished! Very mysterious!

And here's a better shot of my crimson canvas waistcoat:

Also, here's the waistcoat from my 3 piece that lost its trousers to the dry cleaners:

I have a fairly small wardrobe so I often mix and match pieces. Even if the suit was compete I would still wear the waistcoat as a separate sometimes.

I find that the best Waistcoats(Vests) are the Doeskin waistcoats manufactured by Gurteen.. I have several of them and love the look and feel..
Bought mine at Fogeyunlimited.co.uk

I thought this might be worth doing, prompted by consideration of my latest purchase (first photograph), so here you go:

Morning Waistcoats:

I like this one - London tailored.

Savile row - black herringbone, and note the detail below - an extra button set into the lapel to keep it closed:

Another grey one:

Sand/cream/light buff this time - possibly some sort of washed silk? It feels a little too slippery for linen:

This is an interesting one; I suspect that it is technically an evening waistcoat, but I am thinking of trying it during the day, as part of a morning coat/frock coat ensemble:

A single-breasted morning waistcoat with notched lapels:

A braided and slipped waistcoat, also see the detail below:

A simple waistcoat in "Jersey weave" - would work as part of a half morning dress/stroller ensemble or in a more countrified setting:

Some country ones next.

Anthony.

The DB ones are superb.

It has some great detail work such as the button holes and hand finishing, it has light surface wear to the edges but overall is in fantastic condition....ant ideas on it's age, I am thinking 40's?
I just adore the lower pocket flap deatil that mirrors the bottom waiscoat edge!
