Found this beauty in a vintage shop. Splurged a little more than I normally try to spend on a tie, but it's been a long dry spell and, well, it has flamingos on it. I couldn't pass it up.

Fantastic find, Dale. You've got me at anything with birds, flamingos are just icing.

I’ll add a couple more...

Two great ones there, Yamahana. I'm a big fan of patterns like the one on the Pilgrim. And the bull rider is great.

My first Hollyvogue necktie. The silk used for this feels very soft.
I really like the print on this one!

Looks good. Sort of a play on the spider web patterns that were big back in the day?

Couple more to keep the thread alive..

Fantastic bold colors in the first two. Nice find on the B-17s, too.

I like these multi mode ties, with the plain fabric, small print and large print all combined.

Great finds all around,
Michael

This afternoon.

Vintage 40's brocade tie.

Best, Eric -
This green patterned brocade is one of the coolest ties I’ve ever seen. I’ve been on the lookout ever since you posted it for one similar.

Excellent tie as always!

Hope everyone enjoyed the Fourth of July! Just bought this tie through Etsy today, and it'll come in the mail in a few days. Bold tie, but the print looks simple compared to your typical late 40's-early 50's tie. It also looked familiar... more on that below.

I remember seeing a 1950 photograph of L. Ron Hubbard wearing an identical tie. Here it is:

Looking pretty 40 style snazzy there. I really enjoy the vintage style you put together on a regular basis. The spectator shoes, the ties, jackets and of course the great collection of fedoras. The only problem is after you post I’m going “ man that’s cool, I’ve got to find me one of those!” And then I’m on the hunt. A tip of my hat to you and your vintage wardrobe.

I found a few new ties today. Well, two new ones and some used ones.
IMG_3402 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
This Esquire is still on it's cardboard stretcher and has the sheath label
IMG_3399 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
And this rayon Regal is still in it's sheath tag
IMG_3410 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
IMG_3407 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
I need to get better photos of this one showing the textural sub pattern.
IMG_3408 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
I also found this all silk model from the Metropolitan
IMG_3403 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
IMG_3404 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
This lambswool knit from Gimbels
IMG_3406 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
This Lands' End silk organzine number in extra long
IMG_3405 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
And lastly, this Esquire brocade
IMG_3411 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
Of what I take to be swans. Rather malevolent looking swans
IMG_3412 by Michael A2012, on Flickr

I passed on a few skinny ties, but I may rethink that at some point, if they are still there.

Have a good one,
Michael

Wow! Looks like you had a hell of a good day!! That Esquire and Regal are some lucky catches. I especially am in awe of the pattern of the Regal. Congrats on the haul!

Thanks Bob and Dale. I got lucky today. And I got a few more photos of the Regal
IMG_3417 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
It has a white on white brocade pattern in the ground fabric
IMG_3416 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
It's sort of visible under the printing in that photo. I wonder how old they are?

I picked up a few more ties today. Nothing truly special, but good enough to get in my book.
IMG_3537 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
The main point in favor is this one is the label
IMG_3536 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
I think it's my first Wormser tie, now if I could just find a few more Wormser hats to go with it.
IMG_3538 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
The only other vintage one, Carholm.
IMG_3539 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
I tried looking up The Men's Shop in Iowa City, but no hits. I've never seen the label before in the piles of vintage clothes I've looked through.
The rest are modern.
IMG_3540 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
Two Lands' End ties flanking a Pierre Cardin. For some reason they have decided Lands' End ties are worth twice as much as the run of the mill tie. These had been hanging around for a month now and were half price. So the normal price if you would.
IMG_3544 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
Another Lands' End. I have to say that the silk on some of the LE ties is very substantial. And since they are extra long they may be seeing service as a puggaree on a straw hat soon. Once deconstructed and reconstructed.
IMG_3542 by Michael A2012, on Flickr
And I think this is my second one of these. No idea who or where Ruthanne is or was.

Have a good afternoon,
Michael
